Windshield Cracked!!

ACK, I was driving on the 401 East to Markham, when all of a sudden I see this black rock fly at my windshield, didnt have a chance to move outta the way, when whack! smacked my windshield right under the wiper blades :fustrated It made a chip in the glass, and now its starting to crack, it wasn't too bad, but the more I drive the worse it gets. Is there anyway I can fix it before the crack goes all the way over my glass? Or should I just get it replaced? Anyone know of good places to get it done? Thanks...

Greg

Try and take it to any glass place, like Speedy auto glass and let them take a look at it.. They'll know whether it can be repaired or not..

Chips can be fixed, scratches usually not... for sure not once it starts to crack, my winter beater has that problem...I turn on Defrost and high heat, and cuz it's cold out I can watch the glass crack...hehe....I'll replace it in the spring. As for you ROY, you really should take it to a glass place to know for sure. Get at least two opinions, cuz they usually try to rip you. Besides, the chips....they don't turn out that great...you can still see them, but the benefit is that it keeps water and ice out so it won't crack anymore.

Well, from experience on working on client's cars, if the crack is wider than 2 inches, we've got a problem...it's too bad it had to chip at a stress point. If not, you can just usually leave it or spend the 50 bucks to mend the chip. If it needs replacement, I'll need to know what year your car is and make and model...

I had a rock hit me on the 401 and have a quarter sized chip in my windshield. I still haven't taken it in to be looked at, I should really do that before it spreads.

I think it can be injected with whatever stuff they use...hope so.

That happened to me a month ago. I was so pissed. I had my old car for 1 year and nothing like this happened. I had my new car for 5 months and the windsheild gets chipped. I got it fixed at apple autoglass for $50. The chip is still there however it hasn't ****** at all. For a new windsheild it'll cost me about $650.

One of my customers in Rosedale has a lexan sheet on all the windows..

Effectivelly bullet proof glass when combined with the existing glass..

Its cheaper than you think...

I wonder if it can be used in an automotive environment externally..

Would it make a difference and save your windshield??

Plus it might save you from going out like Biggie..

car wash replacement

I heard if you take it to a car was and say that it cracked your windshield they will pay for the damages. The car wash can smash your windows. My gf did it with her lincon ls, new windshield cost 3,600, they paid for 3,200. Also my hatch had to get it's windshield replaced last summer and i paid 160 for it. excellent service, i drove all they way to brampton to get it done a place called Auto Glass Worx ask for Ken.

I'll call the palce tomorrow Greg. I need a new windsheild myself, 10 years of pits, a few cracks and nicks. It's low down on my list but a price never hurts.

Let you know when you show up at the meet tomorrow.
