who's wrong?

went to a muffler shop today to get a peice of my exhaust replaced..
guy drove my car into garage to put it on the hoist so
begins to lift the car and breaks one of the tubes on my underbody kit ...so he stops an laughs an goes"oops thats not good"

finally gets the car up finds the problem, says 50 bux to fix the exhaust problem... i leave cuz i had some business to do an i was already late
i go back to the shop after im finished doing my stuff an hes sayin its compeltley my fault cuz i didnt tell him the bulb was there...even tho he has to look under the car to actually place the legs of the hoist under the car.

so hes basically sayin f*kk off about the bulb cuz it aint his problem and the only thing hell do is give me a deal to replace the gasket that needs replacing (48 bux)

so any opionons on wat i should do? i didn't really want him to replace any light or anything jus a better price on wat needed to be fixed
but now after i went back an he was yellin an tryin to start an argument ...im a little pi*sed off.
i dunno u guys tell me..it may be my fault cuz i didn't tell him but i think he placed the thing wrong an it hit the side skirt which is hiding the bulb...an only one side broke..the other side didn't an its installed the same way.

u should have let him know bout the light ...
but on the other hand he should have expected some custom $hit by the look of your car ...

so maybe 50/50 for fault ? but he should have atleast did the job with no labour for fu ckin up your ride

unless ur bulb is on top of the jack point under ur car then its his fault for not placing the hoist stuff properly

Exactly. The hoist lift point is no where near where your light would have been. He was careless.

fault or no fault, whenever I have someone work on my car that has never worked on it before, I make sure I am there and that they know everything that i is needed to know, whether is assumed or not.

You're taking a risk if you don't

its his problem.... they should alwayz use jackpoints to lift up a car.... that ***** is just trying to "SOUND" right so he has the upperhand over you.... but he'z fuked up if you go look for his manager and shiit... u should look for another person with more power and tell him the incident and how that guy didn't use the jackpoints but used your lights to lift the car.... if that guy doesn't back off..... threaten him in a positive way.... tell him you don't care about the money and the shiit, tell him its your values of right and wrong.... and if he persist in not doing something about this with an apology as well... you say you can always look for a lawyer to settle this out...... be loud, but not rude, take the upperhand back from them and make them do everything as you say...

I'm with JSK.
You should always let people know about any little things on your car if they haven't worked on it before.

just because its agood practice to let someone who is working on you car know stuff doesnt mean its ok for them to break your ****. The light would have been close to the jackpoint most likely but if he set the other ones up properly then obviosly there wasnt a problem with clearance on the lights.

It is his fault and you should go back and ask for at the least an apology for his attitude.

its your fault dude.

cars dont come with underbody rods. U shud have told him that it was there.

maybe tell him you will split it and get him to cut down the price by 20 bucks

a replacement rod is only 30-40 dollars anyway

So its his fault eventhough all 4 other corners had no problem but on that one corner he didnt place it right and ****ed up the bulb? What kinda logic is that?

Angry

trizza by the sounds of it you have mounted your lights in the side skirts, same as mine.......... let me say that there is lots of room between the hoist arms and the tubes in this config. IF he used the hoist lift points provided........as a tech. myself I can pretty much guarenty he was careless....and if he is anykind of man he would have offered to do something for you at the very least the shop owner/ manger should do something.......he just sees a young guy and figures he can just make you go away. Guys like that give good shops, and techs a bad name..........MAKES ME MAD ......that being said you should always inform techs of any changes you've made..... makes our job easier GOOD LUCK MAN

yeah thanks guys
i havn't gone back yet.

but ya i think he was carless there is alot of room...and the other side didnt' break...he placed it on the jack point..but he also placed it under teh side skirt a bit where the bulb was hiding an that made it break. he , was careless....when he furst got in my car to put in the the garage....he was revin the shyt out of it which made me mad too...an he didn't put the emergency break down an when i yelled at him to put it down he says ' ou it wasn't doing nothing' lol

but ya...as for talkin to some1 with higher power... i was...im pretty sure it was him and the owner who were goin off on me..it was actually the owner who was getting lippy. the other guy was stayin pretty calm. tryin to suck up to me a bit.

JetStorm
it was the muffler place right on hwy 2 as ur goin into downtown whitby. umm truway mufflers or somthin is the name...ill find out for sure when i pass by.

CIVilized99
ya it is setup the same way, but his main argument was i didn't tell him an its not a "FACTORY" pieace of the car so its not his problem. its defiantly a case of them see'in im young so ther're tryin to take advantage

there leds so it is stil workin....but the bulb is mangled at the front an im afraid water mite get on it an mess up some serous electronics in my car so i mit ejus take it off or tape it up
