Question Who works at the Honda plant???

I know there are a few members that work at the plant in Alliston, so maybe they can help.

I just ordered an 06, but I'm told that I may be getting one that was bulit at the Honda plant in Ohio. I'm wondering if it would matter if it was built there. Are the US Honda's same/better/worse then the ones built here? I don't have to take a US one, but I'll have to wait for the Canadian plant to catch up and build more.

i would suggest looking for jd power and associates ISQ (initial quality ratings) for 2005. i've been looking but it only shows the best or award winners. i assume to get everything you would have to pay.

the only other thing i can tell you is that the East Liberty, Ohio plant (this is the plant your car is coming from) produces the highest volume of civics, they are also responsible for working out kinks in manufacturing as well as advise other honda plants- this is staight from an autoweek article.

As far as I know we are the only plant in the world to produce coupes so you should be good...

Check your VIN's boys and girls, if it starts with a "1" it's a US built car, if it starts with a "2" it's Canadian... If it starts with a "J" you got lucky! (not 8th gen though, they're North American only)

But if I was to get one from the US, would it be the same quality as a CDN built one?

I was told that because there is such a demand for the cars, that some of them are coming from the US.

Like I said, as far as I know, Ohio doesn't build 8th gen coupes so it would have to be from here...

That said, we all have to meet the same quality standards whether the plant is here, the US, England or China.

We make 800 Civics a day, that sounds like a big quantity to me, just a bit less than Ohio.

Nope, an EX coupe. An Si would have been too much $$$ (payments, premium gas, ins) and I have a mortgage to pay for soon. Besides, I would have had to wait until February to get one.

my 98 Si was made in the USA and it never gave me any problems besides regular maintenance. 7 years later it still runs like new.

Honda of America Manufacturing has put its assembly plant inEast Liberty, Ohio, through a quick changeover to build its new 2006 Civic. While preparations had been underway for months around the plant, the actual changeover at the East Liberty plant began in late August. By last week Honda was ready to start the launch advertising for the new Civic sedan, which remains the Japanese automaker's most important vehicle lineup.

The sedan version built in East Liberty, where the Honda Element also is assembled, is expected to account for the largest share of Civic sales. The Civic coupe and Civic Si are being built at another Honda assembly plant in Alliston, Ont.

Good find, don't be confused though guys, Alliston will be building most Civic Sedans and the Acura for the Canadian market as well as all the coupes. Not to mention the truck plant that builds Pilot, Ridgeline and MDX right next to the car plant. Between the 2 we build 1600 vehicles a day.

Just as a note of correction.

I DON"T work at the Alliston Factory, nor, do I work at Honda Canada and not at a dealer.

With that being said, going back to the original question, All 8th gen coupes are built in Alliston. All Acura CSX will be built in Alliston. Sedans for the Canadian market were initially built in East Liberty however, that will be shifting over to Alliston. The only Japanese produced Civics coming to Canada are Hybrids. All Hybrids are currently built in Japan only.
