I usually get it done when I have some repairs, tune up, oil spray that way I leave my car at the dealership and pick it up when everthing is done

its good to see alot of u guys do ur own oil change.... i just feel bad for the people that go mr. lube or some place like that and they get the old screw job + a scam on the side (flush, air filter, etc...)

nothing wrong getting ur oil changed at a shop

reason why I say this, is even if they do a crappy job, and forget to screw the drain plug on and it falls off, and your motor dies, you can go after them for the repair

vs. if you do your own oil change and somehow you forget to put it on tight and it falls off, who you gonna blame besides yourself?

it has its pros/cons

wow.

am I the only one that pays to have this done? I have a garage, I know the process, but I never bothered to do it myself. just pay the 30$ and let someone else do it.

question to the guys who do it themselves..

Do you lift the car?

where do you dispose of the oil?

those have been my main 2 reasons for not doin it myself.
maybe I should start.

1.) yes I just jack it up under the front jack point, put 2 safety stands down, drain oil then dispose of it at the dump

2.) i answered 2 in 1.) lol

Only an idiot would screw up that bad doing their own oil...and if the oil does leak that bad you always have the sensor light coming on...id rather do it myself for $14 then pay jiffy lube $35 to do it.
