install the a/c yourself and get it charged from a shop, its not that expensive.

In Canada you need to be licensed to recover, etc., and reports have to be sent in etc., Also you can't buy most refrigerant over the counter w/o a ODP lic. I heard there's an organic refrigerant which is "colder" than R134a which anyone can buy, however I never really researched it.

BTW R12 is only for sale in the USA. Are you planning on using R134a?

i have used the organic refrigerant its good, but not as good as R134a, i used it last summer, but this summer i had it removed and recharged with R134a. and thats the only thing you can use to charge the a/c yourself.

i plan on using red *** its an enviromentally friendly hydrocrabon 12a refigerant that replaces r12 and supposedly is better than r12 performance wise. it also doesnt require a licence, so anyone can install it, its just a matter of having the rite tools (vaccum pump and manifold gauges etc)
