Thanks for agreeing with me.
Too many civic drivers forget their less than $10 000 car is a ferrari.

However, when comparing that $10,000.00 or in my case $30,000.00 (tax included) with an annual income of $35,000.00 or less, it sure makes a Civic seem that much more valuable.

As for the original topic & question, I haven't stored my car since I've never been able to afford a winter beater yet. I definately would though if I had the money. Unfortunately I don't know of any locations in particular or that would be inexpensive, but just be sure that the one you choose is heated and dry.

I understand where your coming from, but I was talking about the topic starter's car rather than the new SIR hatchbacks.

I store my summer car in my underground parking space. I rent a space for my Civic (in the same garage). My Civic is my "Winter Beater".

People, its just a car, you are all young and you are going to have many more cars in your lifetime. It's still a depreciable asset.

$hit, even if I had a Ferrari, I'd drive in the winter (as long as there is no snow on the road)

I take good care of the lude, but I never imagined that I would not drive it anytime

Storing is expensive, I think those garage units are approximately $140 a month.

If I had money to "own" a Ferrari, I would definately store it. Cuz I would also have the money to pick up at least an S4 for the winter.

it's funny, cuz ppl who have money see cars as disposable units of transportation - ppl who are poor worship and cherish thier cars and would rather walk on a cold winter day than start their car in harsh weather.

this also appies in the same way to kids who work to earn their cars, as opposed to kids whose cars are bought for them by their wealthy parents. they fail to appreciate how difficult it is to earn ~$20K cash for a new car.

electronblue, the cost of storage is MINIMAL! it pales in comparison to the PERMANENT damage that the car sustains if it has to be repaired and if the original factory finish is compromised. To me, the high risk of winter weather (stupid useless drivers, crap cars, bald tires, poor visibility, black ice) multiplied by the devastating effects of an accident on a car's finish and structure far outweigh the MINIMAL cost of storage. the new paint will cost me in the neighborhood of $3500 plus parts. Storage seems way cheaper...

I don't see a problem at all with storing vehicles. It doesn't matter how much your car costs, or what brand it is. It comes down to wanting to protect your investment.

If you can afford to store it, then do it.

my car is bone stock and crown rust proofed and I will still be storing it this winter , for me personally , just the money I save switching my insurance to my winter car easily covers any storage fees I might have to pay out , plus why wouldnt anyone want to keep there investment mint condition , winter is nothing but bad news for a car, plus the amount of km's you save is huge which means a great deal when ur financing a car and need it to last for a long period of time.

Don't store it. I drive mine all year round. But in order to keep it clean and all, take care of it. Wash it, and dry it and stuff all the time. If u are worried about the underbody, rust proof it.
