Double_B 15-Sep-2004 03:02 PM

imported_SiR_YO 15-Sep-2004 03:04 PM

Nova_Dust 15-Sep-2004 03:29 PM

I hate corporate ladders..

too many stupid blading hicks to climb over..

shlammed 16-Sep-2004 11:14 AM

That's why I hope I get the job at Research In Motion. They bring you up the ladder themselves instead of you busting your ass. Examplel: start level one and commit to it for 6 months then go to level 2 and get a pay raise. Level 2 for 1 year and go to level 3 and pay raise. Bastards better call me.

thats not climbing the corporate ladder unless you end up with more people that work for you after each raise... and a change in Title

I've had multiple increases since being at bell but I'm still on the same low rung of the ladder

shlammed 16-Sep-2004 11:32 AM

It is climbing the ladder because you get better jobs doing more advanced work making more money which means you can a) continue up the ladder within that company or b) get a better, higher level job that pays more at another company because of your experience. And it is change in Title.

punkindrublic 16-Sep-2004 11:37 AM

for the money i make doing what i do i couldn't even be bothered to try to climb... there is something nice about going in doing your job coming home and not worrying about everything else

shlammed 16-Sep-2004 11:39 AM

That's true but not everyone has the same ambitions or goals. I could never see myself doing any kind of manual labor for a living. When I did drywall with my dad I wanted to shoot myself. For other people it's great. They do piece work, work fast, and make a ****load of money. I'm the office desk type guy and to not climb the ladder would be suicide.

punkindrublic 16-Sep-2004 11:53 AM

ya i hear that... my job is very easy though... zero physical labour... just welding :) and our piece work is very easy to get as well so its not that bad... with zero problems we could get it in about 5.5 - 6 hours in an 8 hour day so lots of relaxing... plus i make nearly what my dad does and he's a maintenance supervisor :kickass:

shlammed 16-Sep-2004 12:50 PM

that's cool man...i wish i knew how to weld just for a hobby.

shlammed 16-Sep-2004 01:18 PM

It's funny we're talking about this cuz RIM just called me saying I got the job.

imported_gatherer 16-Sep-2004 01:26 PM

Congrats Shlammed

shlammed 16-Sep-2004 01:34 PM
