Whats good TCC got a question (b18c5)

Hey ppl happy new year and ****, although its already the 4th...anyways...

I am buying an eg6 to swap the B18C5 into it as a first mod. What I would like to know is where in the GTA (or not too far from it anyway) would be the best auto-shop to trust with doing a full swap.

Thanks
Cheers

thanks for the quick replies. could anyone give me a ballpark figure on the costs involved in doing a swap? Or anyone with similar swaps...how much did you pay?

Also say the car is insured as some 70hp egg and defcon will do the swap...there is no need to report your swap to the insurance company right?

cheers

If I were you, I would give your insurance company a call and ask them first before you think about doing any swaps. Any shop will change your engine for you, but the insurance part is your responsibility.

As for prices, your best bet is to call a few places and shop around. If you are looking for a cheap swap to do then don't bother, because in the end, it probably won't be done properly and you will end up and Defcon anyways to fix whatever the shop did wrong.

My advice, call your insurance company if you think that it may be an issue and clear that first. Then call Defcon and get a quote. In the end, you will get your swap done the right way the first time and any issues, you bring it back to them and they will take care of you.

Well I am definately not cutting any corners when doing the swap. That is exactly why I decided to post here and get recommendations for a place where I can get it right.

Given everyones input I'll do the swap at Defcon as it seems to be the best choice. I still would like an estimate on what kind of prices I will be looking at.

Just to give you some figures its a 12k project and I am planning on spending 2 - 3k on eg or ek and start with the swap. with whatever is left, coilovers and brakes. I just wanted to know how much people spent on their swaps with all costs included.

About the insurance I would rather not inform them of the swap, and just keep it registered as a dx or whatever.

thanks
cheers

Insurance will not insure you, you will be canceled and then you are screwed. Do the swap yourself, you will save money and learn something in the process.

Ive never reported any of my swaps in my old civic.
Many engines have been in and out of there lol as i was never happy.
Theyd cancel my *** right away with NO chance of going back to them if they knew about them.
