i'd look into an SiR if your looking for a coupe though.... sure you dont get the mods.... but you get SiR stuff all around.... plus a b16 which is way better then any d series motor....

yea i dont think im gettn this car anymore. the dude has no history of who installed what on the car. i dont wanna run into problems down the road. he doesnt even know who made the suspension. I've made a complete project layout.

I found a stock 2000 SiR for about 15. I'm putting about 7 grand into it and doing it all myself in my garage. I'll keep you guys posted.

If it wasnt for you guys, id be driving a piece of **** right now.

thx.

Sounds to me that this guy is full of ****, and if not, a thief who just want to get rid of his hot item. I am glad you didn't get that car. I mean, how can you not know the brand of your coilover... LOL

Well, if you like coupe, that's one story. But if you like Civic in general, especially the 6th gen, if I may suggest a hatch which can be had for at least 5 to 6 grand less then that SIR, and with the money saved, that can easily be transformed into a B18C with minor mods or B18C-R engine or just a B16A with some decent hardcore mods (if you do the swap yourself, you gonna save even more). Besides, you were gonna dish out another 7 grand on top of the 15 anyway so if you can get a hatch for around 8 to 9 grand, you have got yourself roughly 13~14 grand to work with! And the cheaper the hatch, the money you have for upgrade. That's a lot of money and room for some sick mods.

What were you gonna do with that 7 grand? A turbo and some suspension work + a new set of wheels?

I am gonna pretend I have 22 grand at hand and this is what I would do (oh joy!)

99-00 CX Hatch - 7500 (with no rust, a good clean underbody and no previous accident, standard)
B18C-R (labour and parts) - 6500
Suspension (adjustable damper) - 2000
Light forged wheels + tires- 2500
Break upgrade (SIR 4 lug) - 500
Front/rear strut bars, front/rear sway bars, front/rear low tie bars, trunk bar and c-pillar bar - 1500 (you might get some discount if you buy all these bars at once from the same source)
CF hood - 1500

That's 22000. Everything brand new except engine, SIR breaks and the car itself. Some parts seem outrageously high cause I was estimating on quality parts and well, you know, brand name stuff. If you don't care about brand, each individual item can be had for less. And also, car, engine and the breaks are just a ball park figure. That engine quote was given by Altech back in summer time. Car varies and breaks could run you 600, or a little bit lower.

And do some minor body weight reduction (that CF hood and the light wheels will take out a good chunk) and you have a fun car to drive. You have power (way more then most of the Civics on the road, if not, I say you are above 75% bracket), you have a great handling car (with a nice suspension set up and good straight springs, and the bars) and you have style (well, we haven't add the cost of lips and rear spoiler yet, but look comes after). Well, that was sort of my ideal project list but I need to work my way up and tackle each task slowly...

If you have 22 grand at hand for play, that would be so much room for improvements. I'd say you shop for some more but if your mind is set for a coupe, then by all means, get what you like.

Happy shopping

i agree with Ferio!

why buy other people's modifed vehicles???
those SI's come cheap nowadays, u can pick up a decent one for like 10-11G's

but its really your choice! id rather buy one with no engine mods!
but the way the mods are!!! that would boot that D series pretty good!

but then when u come to think about it, that car has been beaten too!!

good luck with your purchase!

JAYC, since im editing thsi post and i didnt know there was a 2nd page!

get a SIR! you will love it man!
interior is better and you get heated mirriors!! hehe u rarely use it but hey..... its a start and any b-series motor is a good start b/c its better to have 2 cams then 1

ahahahaha

Nova_Dust well said

Regarding car, good thing you didn't pick it up! It seemed like a scam, and it was kinda over priced.

Im sure you can find an SiR for cheaper if you look around. Depending on what your goals are for the car, why not just get a base model DX and use the money saved to mod the car more? You have so many options when you get a 6th gen that the possiblities are infinite. If you wanna do a swap then get a base model coupe with High KM's but a good body.

grab a lx or dx coupe for cheap, high km, then grab a SOHC D series VTEC, and boost it

If you want to swap, get a LX or DX coupe (like what Matt said) but to boost or not is up to you. A homemade D16Y8 turbo ain't too shabby. You can do such project for roughly under 2 grand, or a bit more.

If you want some power, then get SIR but I would suggest you use that 7 grand on suspension, decent wheels and rubber and body reinforcement (bars). But since SIR comes with sway bars, you can save a buck or two right there. Although you could upgrade to thicker bars (just sell the ones you have on the car, and get used ones on this forum) which will run you some extra cost but it is worth it. Then with the remaining money, get a CF hood and reduce some weight. You will have a decent B16A coupe with some nice solid mods. You could accompolish all the above with 22000. You might even be able to do so with less. But always estimate more than less.

I guess what I am trying to say is suspension work and handling are the single most important factors to any good/race car before power comes into play. You won't be disappointed with good quality parts.

Some other guys will give you more info on this topic. They are in their bed dreaming making love to a 3" tailpipe right now.

this is a nice car, i have seen it before. But if I were you I wouldn'let myself get dazzled by the parts on the car. Its what under the hood that counts. I would much rather a less modded SIR(or anything else with a DOHC). Not to take anything away from this car, but I would go for something that has DOHC VTEC power! It's all about the speed

I could spend 7 grand easy on my car and it would still be classified as a stock car for solo 2 ..... racing is expensive....

IMO, it is a pretty good deal BUT, like the others are saying, it was someone else's project car.
If you're looking to enter your car into shows or what not, it's best to purchase a stock Civvy and mod it on your own, that way you'd feel more of an accomplishment holding that trophie and calling it your own.

also remember if you buy an SiR you are alwso increasing your risk of possible theft from woodbe thieves out there. SiR's and other hondas are prime targets. So if you can live with knowing you car could be stolen thats fine. Im not sure if the rate is a little bit lower on coupes/hatches or not but I know SiR's are high along with ITR and GSR etc.

Jyust soemthing to think about.
