ya, I don't know why people hate on the 7th gens soo much, I mean, thier not as cool as a 4th gen Civic/CRX which is like a go kart, and the lack of Dual wish bone suspention is kind of crappy, but I have gone for rides in them seem like decent cars...

1 of many reasons is because they look like a ford focus from the back..

The older EF/EG Civics were designed to be bare bones grocery getter's, that's it. You can't even compare the to a 01+ Civic which is more of a poor man's 3 series BMW I think.

Yeah a new Civic is alot heavier then an older one, but it still has more power and torque then an older one. It has standard features that weren't even options on the older models (a/c, abs, power everything, etc.) Looks much better in my opinion, drives better, has a nicer interior, quieter, smoother, etc.

The potential for mods is harder with a new one and the front suspension isn't as good, but the cars are much more refined. I think the 8th gen will be even nicer. Honda makes nicer, more powerfull cars, not cheap economy ones like they used to.

EG/EF Civics are just winter beaters to me. I don't care how fast they can be with a B series swap. I'd take a K series in a new Civic any day.

I think from a cosmetic point of view the 04-05 is a whole lot better than the 01-03, got rid of that square back end look a little...

the car is not as bad as described... its smooth and quiet.... i love my 96 coupe, and i still felt nothing handles like my 92 hatch, but you can't stick with the old stuff forever... the new stuff have more luxury for the price you're paying...

first thing like team rukus said, OIL CHANGE haha...
lowered your car a lil... get some nice rims with low pro tires...
then get some nice shocks and struts to go with the springs.....
later, get some generic strut bars and tie bars.....
after you done the handling, get a nice quiet exhaust with a generic CAI... get a SS header... done with the simple engine mods, move onto some lip kits, black out headlights (depending on what color car you have). done with look, simple engine mods... short shifter for more shifting comfort! add some racing seats if you wish, but then i never had any love over racing seats haha...

nice cars, but I no longer see how they are different from other cars in it's class. they have the lowest displacement engines in the class, the same susp as every other car in it's class, and the styling is bland.

to be honest, with the 7th gen.... you could modify it, or a corolla, or a huyndai, or .... a cavalier, or sunfire, or sentra, or whatever else is in this category... and it would all be the same to me. none of these cars have any unique attributes that make them especially great modifying value. with the previous gens, at least we had the double wishbone with LOTS of wheel travel that we could tout as unique, and use that as an excuse for $5000 engine swaps or power adders. but you no longer have that, so.... basically you are modding based on your love for the brand, which IMO is the wrong reason to mod.

I didn't know that's why 7th gens weren't so popular, but I really like the look of snoo-snoo's ride. I would say follow whatever he did.
