What Would You Do? 2000 SiR or 2002 Accord SE Sedan

Just contemplating this possible propsition.

I currently own a 2000 SiR and I might have the chance to get a 2002 Accord SE L-4 Sedan for almost the value of my car or I figure the most I would have to pay is $2,000 plus my car. Should I go for it? If I do, any one interested in my SiR? Offers?

Pros for going for the Accord:
Regular gas instead of Premium
Likely better resale value in a few years
Newer and less mileage (I have 39,000, Accord 25,000)
More Torque (which is more important in the real world).
Cheaper insurance (which will likely offset any money out of my pocket to buy it).
Less worry about it getting stolen (immobilizer, better statistics).
More convenience to carry stuff and passengers.
Better stereo (mine is pure stock)

Cons:
Auto but this will be used for commuting.
Less opportunities to modify but my Civic is practically stock too.
Worse fuel economy but cheaper gas compensates.
Not as much 'curb appeal'. (However, I have a Trans Am convertible for the summer).
Nowhere near as fun to drive but I have my T/A, or borrow a car from work.
Rear Drum brakes.

What are your thoughts? I guess you can tell I am leaning towards the Accord.

I guess you would be better off with the accord. As long as you dont hate driving AUTO. If the Sir is your beater for the winter then go with the Accord. Also the accord is more of a family car than the SiR.

It really depends on what your needs are right now and for the foreseeable future. Do you often carry passengers, lots of cargo or have a family or something like that? In commuting, do you spend tons of time in traffic and begin to loathe that clutch? etc.

For myself, since I hardly ever have more than 1 passenger, I'd stick with the Civic since it's a coupe and I prefer the styling of the Civic coupe over an Accord sedan.

Hey Mark, personally I'd stick with the SiR.

What would be the price if you were to sell it tho?

I think the SiR will retain a higher resale value in the long run since it's more limited. So...give it 2 years, I'm pretty sure the Accord is gonna be worth less than your SiR =D

I would stick with the SIR myself, plus it is AUTO... you'll get bored!

imported_~ILLEST CIV~ 22-Jan-2003 05:54 PM

I Say you stick with your SiR man......cause doesn't the accord SE 4door sedan have juss as much horsepower as the SiR???....if it was an accord EXV6....then i'd be like go for it buddy......cause that'z a great deal.....but honestly. .. i say stay wit the SiR....or if you can get a coupe SE accord...which i don't think there is such thing is there??

SiR-Racer 22-Jan-2003 06:01 PM

stay with the SiR. get the 4door accord when you get married and have kids :drivesafe

imported_My Blue Si 22-Jan-2003 06:22 PM

I would definetly stick with the sir, im not too crazy about the new accords and it's auto.

cibs 22-Jan-2003 07:59 PM

2002 is still the old accord btw, 2003 are the new ones aren't they?
and Mark, i'd stick with the SiR, but again that's with the life i'm living right now, etc, it all depends on what you need, if you feel you need the 4 doors and more torque then go for the accord, personally I like the feel of the civic better, i find the accord a little too big for my taste, i'm sure later on when i'm older i'll like it plenty but for the fun and mobility IMO the SiR takes the cake...

but either way make a decision that will fulfill your needs the most and make you the happiest at the same time!
good luck!

Yes, there is a Honda Accord Special Edition coupe. It's a 2002 model.

Honda usually comes out with SE models in the final year of a model's production just to get those last few ones out the door. They usually come packed with options so they're a pretty good deal!! :drivesafe
