what whould you do?

I've been lookin for a 1st gen CRX, a cheap 1st gen CRX. I've been having luck finding what I'm lookin for but obiuosly all that I find have issuses. Here's my question, which should I go with....

1. 86 crx $600, fresh paint, needs windshield, fuel pump, rear re-bar and the seats are toast.

or

2. 86 crx $375, not as fresh paint but still very good, needs windshield, and the bracket that holds the sway bar to the frame of the car needs to be welded back up, the rest of the underside seems good.

Both shells seem to be good. Both were running when parked, but the one needs a pump to run now. They both likely need things like brakes and a few other things that I have or can get fairly cheap. I'm a little weary about the sway bar deal being a sign that maybe the underside of the car is fubar'd

There may be a third car in the mix that I've not seen yet that will need a windshield and possibly an alt/batt. along with some other things for $700 but it's not exactly for sale yet as it's part of a trade offer.

Any advice/help would be apperciated.

Thanks!

imo, I'd go with the car that is more structurally sound. A solid chassis is more important than the fuel pump or wind shield, which can be replaced easily.

I would agree...soo many of those cars are rotted now, I'd go with whichever is the most solid...

I'd be weary of new paint...

The one with the new paint is the one that seems to be structurally better.
The one that needs the rear sway bar re-attached, has good paint but not fresh.

what sway bar? u mean the rear subframe where the panhard bar mounts is rotted out like almost all of them at this point...thats the death to most of the 1st gen rexes out there...i bought mine for 100bucks and dumped about 1000bucks into it to get it in good road worthy shape and then I put over 250000km on it

remember manual choke carb + winter = pain in the *** on those cold mornings hahaha....i miss my 1st gen

Yeah I know, I've already givin up on that for now... maybe someday, unless the other one I havn't seen yet is both actually for sale and structurally mint.

The manual choke, carb thing never bother me. I learned to drive in my parents 81 perisienne, it'd stall turning corner at random and you had to be pro at throwing the car into neutral and starting it. I know that's not starting it in the cold, it's just an example of what a P.O.S. it was.

Now I guess the question is what do I go with instead? I'd like something similar to the 1gen CRX, but not another EG. I love Eg's but I have my first one still and I had a second one for a winter beater ladt year.
