what is SIR engine

Is it the same b16 that people get swapped into their cars? Or is it a diff engine.

I see alot of posts on autotrader about SIR engine swaps in the civics for sale.

Just wondering.

hmm.... you sure? I thought it's a mis-print.
Should be 106, I am pretty sure SiR has 106hp not 160hp
Yep, must be a mis-print.

yea, why misleading the newbies?

SIR (1999, 2000) = B16A2 = 160 hp
D16Y7 = DX = 106 hp, no VTEC
D16Y8 = Candian Si = 127 hp, has VTEC

The B16A was introduced in Japan in 1989 in Civics and Tegs with 160 HP. The 2nd gen B16A's are 170 HP found in 92-95 Civics. As for the ones here labelled with a 2 at the end (B16A2), they're 160 HP.
If you want to find out the year of the engine, just remove the exhaust manifold shield, and you'll see a few circles with numbers in them right on the block. The first circle will show what year the engines from (89, 90, 91, 92, 93.....and so on).

Those circles aren't on the block, they're on the cylinder head right above the exhaust ports. And it won't tell you what year the whole motor is from (the shortblock can always be swapped out in favour of another one), the number will only tell you what year that cylinder head was produced. ex.. if the 1st circle reads "9|1" it means the cylnder head was manufactured in 1991, and was probably used in a 1992 model car. I say probably because sometimes a '91 head wil be used in a late model 1991 vehicle, but rarely. On my cylinder head.. it is "9|4".. but the motor is from a '95 Integra.

Sorry, my mistake. I just haven't looked at mine for a while, but I knew it's in that area.
You've got a good point about the shortblock being swapped out. I never thought about that.
