What should I do

Well on Thursday I finally picked up my car only to find out the dealer had only one key for the car. If I known it only had one key I would have put it in the contract that it must have two keys, who sells a car with one key come on, those honda keys are expensive $200. And I also said that they must fix that stupid hole on the silver thing around the gear shift and all they did was take one from a mazda car and pluged it in there and it looks dumb a dark grey cap around a silver border.

your not buying a brand new car.
dont expect it to be.
the only thing you could've done is check it all over before leaving the lot with the car.
anything you get from the dealer now is him being a nice guy and trying to help you out for the sake of it assuming he feels like it.

I dont even undertand this post. You bought a used car from a dealership....1)I doubt they are hiding a key from your stock civic 2)Get a copy made, it doesnt cost more than $20 @ the stealership.

Depending on the key, it can cost around $150 to get a new key and to have it cut, then you need to add on labour to have it programmed., this is for keys that hve the chip in it. If you dont get it programmed it wont start the vehicle.

you can get blank honda keys from ebay for just a few dollars. you will still have to have it cut and programmed.

Okay, i called the dealer and it was hard for them to agree to give me another key, they talked about the savings we got blah blah, had to talk to so many people, finally the manager of the dealership agreed to pay for the cost of the other key and remote, after being told that there is a security problem, someone out there has a key to my car!!! Plus I told them that it should have been clear to me, I could have walked away from the car if there was no other key. So yea not only will i get another key but they will reprogram my key and remote. So thats a savings of +300!

2003 Civic Coupe LX,

Im gonna get a new key and remote today, also since mazda dealership has a 30 day warranty, they are gonna fix my wipers hehehehe

I definately got a good deal and I am very happy with the car! its amazing, I dont understand why people like previous generation civics I drove a 99 and it looks stupid compared to the 2003!

I think the opposite, like connie said it's all personal preference...

either way a new key from honda isn't $300 bucks thanks for coming out tho did u even research that? it's closer to $60 man...

either way it's good that they took care of you, but when buying a used car they don't guarantee that you're gonna have two sets of keys plus the valet key, as long as you have one set of keys that's all you need...

Seems a little strange to me that you wouldn't have bought a car because they never included a second key. You olbiviously bought the car for a fair bt of moeny and your fighting such a minor detail.

And for the saftey issue, come on. You worried about a key floating around somewhere, but do you cover your VIN?

i think i'm gonna steal a key and then go up to EVERY CIVIC IN THE North America to see if it opens it... it's like a free civic!!

the vin is a way easier way for them to steal your car...

my friend has all the keys of his previous cars as well, dealership has no reason to keep a spare key to themselves. espically if it was just a civic?? i mean think of it, if they are a dealership and a mazda for example, they have rx8 and mazdaspeed6 on there lots.
but anyways, no matter what, even if you get all 3 keys, how do you know the previous owner didn't make back up upon back up?
hey you never know you might've got a girl that frequently loses keys, so she made back ups lol.
