this is a stupid question, there has to be a criteria...

is this a second car? only car?..

only car - something like a Civic Si or used CSX maybe...

Second car - almost new Miata, maybe a more used S2k...

Id get an 02 or 03 BMW 330. Was actually thinking of buying on this year, but will most likely adopt a car free lifestyle instead...

I am too looking for something in the 20k range, but luxery type of car. I really am set on the TSX or MAYBE the TL. I mean same price, but a whole different car and class, plus its V6 so I donno...

But a relative was looking into an altima, and all those cool features like walk towards car and door automatically unlocks, and push button start, which seems pretty cool. But I work on my own cars, and knowing honda parts are alot cheaper I am still debating!

i would love a luxury or a v6 but i can not afford gas money with all the driving that i do so i would just stick to a nice 4 cylinder

lets say this is for a daily driver.. possible family car in the future.. so 4 doors with a little room would be nice.. but if the time comes for kids in a couple of years I could always trade in then and get something more roomy..

I was thinking:

used - tsx
new - civic
(I don't like domestics, lol)

new would be nice with a warranty and all plus you'll know it hasn't been damaged or beaten on.. but used you can still find a nice car only a couple years old, possibly still with warranty, you just have to watch what you buy.. but things like upkeep and insurance would be more so that's something to think about..

Based on what you are saying above, about the car being a sedan, possibly something that has warranty, I'd say get the following:

New: Civic all the way. True, you won't get the Si, but believe me, getting the EX or DX-G or whatever, is still very nice. You will spend less on insurance and gas too.

Used: I would stay away from sports sedans because you never know who had it before, what they did to it, and how they drove it. You are more likely do get a better used V6 auto Accord driven by some older man or lady or an executive than a 6 speed TSX or manual WRX. Who do you think buys manual TSXs or WRXs? Usually car enthusiasts who will drive them with "enthusiasm".

I also think that getting a car that is not a luxury car will help with maintenance costs. I don't think that oil changes or brake services are as expensive on Accords or Camrys as they are on TSXs or Lexus cars.

You guys are all mentioning these expensive semi-luxury cars when most of you could never afford the maintenance or insurance on one.

I'd get a TSX or a V6 Accord personally.

I agree with you Mike. Most people mention all these expensive cars, but don't realize how expensive maintenance is on these cars.

I am not sure why you would choose a TSX over a V6 Accord. Is that purely based on looks and drive, because I can't imagine that maintenance is less expensive on the TSX compared to the Accord.

Looks and size mostly. A V6 Accord is a pretty quick car, but it's also a big boat compared to a TSX. I have a friend that has a TSX and I love it. It handles great and looks amazing IMO. A big brother to my Si.

A guy I work with just bought an 08 Accord coupe and it is one sweet car regardless of price.
