What Can I change for new rubber?

My current michelins are P195/55/R15 84v

I want to get some new rubber on them, but when I looked at the rubber, most was real expensive.

Im wondering what factors in the codeing I can change when looking at new rubber, (the cheaper ones).

thanks. (btw, I have no idea what any opf the coding means )

Changing to 14Rims + R14 tires

The larger the rim size, the more expensive it gets.

I'm guessing you have SiR or EL wheels. You can change to 205/50/15, as you will find that you have more choices in this size, and thus better prices. The tires are also slightly wider so there is a slight improvement in handling. The overall diameter of the wheel also remains virtually the same, so there won't be any effect on your speedometer. I had the same size tires on my EL, but changed to 205/50/15 last year and have no complaints.

I believe your car came stock with:

185/60-14 OR
175/70-13

I'm guess you had the 195/55-15 because you bought the rims with those tires, thats sized better for 6th Gen Civcs

This is my suggestion

195/50-15 <--- Optimal daily driver use
205/50-15 <--- Better for track and hard driving use

If you want to save money, don't anything higher than an H rated tire.

I'd go for the 195-50-15's loudsubz, not only will the car accelerate a little (and i mean little) faster due to the smaller outside diameter, but the EL wheels are narrow and a 205 will have more of a tendency to balloon out on the sides. Plus there's a better chance of them rubbing if you lower the car, mine rub a bit but they're 205-40-17 on a 7 1/2" wide wheel and my car's lowered 2 1/2". The EL wheels can't be any wider than 6" so I'm sure this won't be a problem.

Btw; thanx for posting the TCC link on your signature in CCA, I'm getting to like this site/club.
