what is a 98 Civic coupe worth?

Just looking for some ball park numbers. I'm looking at buying a 98 Coupe that needs:

It's got about 230 000kms

1. timing belt water pump
2. Exhaust manifold/catalytic
3. needs a set of tires

Seller is asking for $1k

it was also involved in a rear end collision... not sure how bad but i can tell the rear bumber has been replaced.

The seems to run fine... the owner has been driving it around for a while. he is selling cuz he is leaving the country by end of month

Is it worth it....

I paid 2k for mine about 3 months ago, but it only had 121,000kms no accidents, all service records from the dealer provided, but i need to do the timing belt and water pump. and the front bumper has a crack. But brakes are tires were in good conditon didn't need anything for a safety or e-test. and exhaust is fine. Oh and mine is a 5 speed.

Is the one you are looking at stick?

It's a DX... I'm buying it from a buddy... what he is telling me is what his mechanic had told him. He said i should take in for my own assessement... i was planning on taking it to RT at Keele/407 sometime this week for an inspection.

doesnt sound like to bad of a price, depending on how hard it was hit..

The bumper has already been replaced some generic one that is not painted... It does not look like a factory Honda bumper... i assume a knock of to fit a civic

get under the back of the car, and look to see if the trunk/hatch floor has been crumpled.. also remove the spare tire and see what it looks like under there too.

and look at the rear reinforment, make sure its not crumbled all to ****, those go for $200 bucks new from honda

I would think its a good deal, as long as the damage to the rear isnt substantial. Maybe it just needed a new bumper.

Timing belt and water pump is around $500. The exhaust manifolds are knonw to crack on those cars I think and they along withthe cat are not cheap. Unless you can find a good used one, a custom exaust will probably be cheaper. Tires you can get used easily.

Mine was DX,
Ya i would say as long as you look into what kracker said. Also take a rubberized magnet with you, put it anywhere you think is bondo, a magnet will not stay to bondo.
