Well..finally bought my EF

So it begins... my tenure as a honda driver. Bought the car yesterday and left it at my mechanics shop for monday morning. totally different feel in every bloody sense of the word.

im actually surprised to find myself not minding the lack thereof of any aesthetic appeal whatsoever.. body has a tonne of rust to be taken care of..including the standard rear quarter rot, a hole near the hatch and on the doors...the maxima has put me through hell for a good 2 years now cost me about $20k in total expenditures.. for a $5k worth car? no thanks

so here are the goods and bads for my new car..

BAD
leaking brake lines
speedomoter cable snapped
rust
exhaust rattle
too bloody loud..damn you flowmaster!!
gonna need bushings soon
crack in windshield
needs two $1 gaskets to get the check engine light to come off
needs a tune up
needs a new drivers corner light(got another one in the trunk hehe)
needs a complete paintjob to look clean enough in anyway for me..

GOOD

B16A1 jdm motor about 60kms on that (160HP in this tin can )
forget which one but acura 5spd tranny with LSD
Full posi
running synthetic oil (mobil 1)
starts everytime
heat works like a banshee
cost me $400
if it gets to troublesome..ill just sell it
here are the pics:

Note that there was a ton of crap in the hatch at this point

by no means am i trying to discredit the bettle.....motor is this one has had some work, rebulit carbs, pretty much ready for some. probably would get the extra trunk lid with the molded spoiler on it. purple and black might not be the best colors, but damn is it fine! have fun with your EF!

IMO that car isnt worth doing the body work on. I'd just drive it till the wheels fall off, and buy a car in better shape to make a nice car out of. Any rust you see now is about a 1/5th of the rust that's actually on the car. Good buy for a beater though.

so in your eyes if i repainted the car and took care of the rust it would come apart again too soon?

for an ontario car thats pretty bad in some spots.. but for the price its good.. im just saying it might be cheaper to buy a shell then replair and paint it.

Congrats on the buy! and as everyone said, might be cheaper/easyer to buy a good shell and swap everything.

understandable for a shell to be maybe a cheaper route gents..however..id probly end up redoing the shell as im picky with how i want this car to look..i figure might as well fix up this shell and do it all at the same time.

doesnt look to bad!

my car was bad too.. all cars are money pits if ya dont take care of them and leave everything.. if somthing is broken fix it... before the list gets to long.. thats what i'd say... im in the process of it ... my cars gone a long way.
