Weird wiper phenomenon
A couple weeks ago I saw a Corolla parked on my street and it had both its windshield wipers pulled up (pulled up away from windsheild). I thought that it was just strange, but over the past little while, I've been seeing it more and more. In a lot of parking lots, I've seen cars here and there with the wipers pulled up in this manner.
What's the purpose of it?? Maybe a bunch of hooligans called the Windshield Wiper Bandits or something?? Or does it really serve a purpose??

its so that the blades dont get suck inside the tons of snow thats on the windshield. this way u can just scrape off the windshield and then flip the wipers back down and u can drive off without getting ur hands to messy.

sometimes when its really cold out the rubber from the blade has been also known to peel / tear off and remain on the windshield.

Yup it is so they don't freeze. You can pick up a cover at CT that goes over the windshield to prevent snow and ice from building up on it at night then in the morning remove it away you go clean windsheild and all.

I thought that it was so your wipers don't get stuck to your windshield, but does it really get that cold outside that the rubber is gonna bond do the glass?? I'd understand if there was a risk of thawing, but it's too damn cold outside for any snow/ice to thaw! Thanks guys, so there is a reason to the madness.

Working nights for the past 9 years. You just want to get in your car and go and not dick with the blades when its -20 outside.
