Water in engine
sup have problem bad rain storm in ottawa and got water in through the intake, the car died and when I tried to start it, it would make a thud sound so I left it over night came back and same thing but then got someone to boost me then it start turning over fast from the starter but won't fire up and got it towed to shop and they said there is no compression but I don't know what to believe, just would like to know if my engine is ****ed or is there anything I can do 2 try and fix my car.

If there is no compression, that's definately a bad sign.
I'm no expert, but it sounds like you have to have the motor pulled apart and rebuilt. |
the car just died no smoke no banging or anything just died and wouldnt start again and is there anyway to get compression back??
|
That was a crazy storm last night. I'm in Ottawa right now.
What happened to engine is called Hydro-locked. This means that a cylinder get water in it. Since water can't compress it will stop the pistion from completing its cycle. A few things could happen. Usually internal engine damage ie. cracked head, bent pistion rods etc. I would start checking out the prices of a new ZC from an JDM engine place. |

I already told you on msn man.
|
sounds like you're hydro-locked.. rebuild or get a new engine..
|
Oh God! NOOO!!! HYDROLOCK!!! Ouch that's gonna hurt. Gotta take the motor apart and replace piston rings and clean out parts and replace damaged parts.
Might be a good idea to use this as an excuse for a motor upgrade because you'd have to spend probably the same amount to rebuild the existing motor. Cheers, Buddah. |
lol i hydrolocked mine a few months ago
|
Bruno:
when u hydrolocked were u all motor with intake or TURBO??? damn that sucks!!!! thats like sinking back in ur wallet! damn |
he probably had NO turbo
|
If your compression is low, u can try putting a little engine oil into the spark plugs. That might get u some compression back because oil seals the rings and get's compression. Something like that. I don't know too much about engine. So yeah. Good luck on your car.

my nephew's car got water in the engine too... not yet hydrolock i guess, but whenever he crank up the car.... you'll hear weird noises.... well, he got an SiR installed.... time for more power dude.... his old motor, we're gonna tear it apart and learn some rebuilding...
|
^^ great idea, that's what I would do personally..
|
i guess every1 doesnt kno here.. but when it rains every1 gets water into the engine but its just a huge ass amount of water that goes in.. u should try to turn the engine from the crank. i doubt anything will happen but mite as well try it.

Ok OK
Adding oil to the cylinders will only raise compression for a couple seconds. Adding oil during a compression test will let you know that your rings are toast. Why would you want to turn the engine from the crank? Your starter motor is off the flywheel which is hooked up to the crank. I would check and see the condition of your t-belt. Maybe you might have gotten lucky and teeth got torn off your t-belt. Hopefully the damage to your pistion/valve is very min. any updates? |
