USPS story/advice

Hey:

Some of you know the continuing fookin saga of my shox. Great deal at Cox Import -- US340 plus 18 shipping USPS; meaning no UPS ass raping at the border.

Shipped 4 weeks today, still no shox!!!

Nice people at Cox, so far. Looking out for the shox in case they are returned for some reason.

Called Canada Post and Canada Customs. Not seen or heard of the package.

All I have is a number on the shipping bill -- no shipping number like UPS, FedEx.

Now, I know to go FedEx in the future, or by Canadian. In the meantime, do any of you have any ideas, advice, suggestions before I lay down the hammer at Cox tomorrow morning.

Many thanks:thumbup:

Tracking...

I used this last time I shipped USPS...

Like I said last night...

Contest the charge on your Visa/ MC/ Whatever...

That way the bank has a record as well..

Let them bloody investigate it...

I hate to tell you Anthony but I think they were stolen...

I know you don't wanna hear it...

But those things shoulda been at your door in a week tops...

My 2 cents...

hard call there..
i've seen a hsf sent from the states take over 4 weeks before..
not saying "nothing" is amiss here, just saying that things have really slowed since 9/11 last year..

me?? if i can't find it local, i don't buy it..
sometimes it's a little safer to pay a few extra bucks than put up with the BS of shipping headaches..

I've never trusted USPS since they lost a Palm III that I won from 3Com a few years back ended up somewhere between New York state and Montreal but never showed up at my door. I called 3Com, they gave me a tracking number and referred me to Canada Post. Called Canada Post and they had no record of the package crossing the border, they referred me to USPS. Then I called the contact at USPS and they said the package was last recorded at their Syracuse (I think) centre... well, let's just say that after 3 months of waiting I gave up. After winning 2 3Com hats from the same contest that I won the Palm III with, I knew that it wasn't 3Com's doing... and I doubt it was Canada Post... so USPS became the guilty party in my mind. To this day I still don't have a Palm III.

Let's hope the same thing didn't happen to you Anthony. :(

On a good note, all my eBay winnings and collectibles have come across the border with no problem (and very prompt too). And usually I don't have to pay duty either... except on the larger items like my taillights.

It's good and bad with USPS... don't know what to think.

Live and learn, eh?

I used to deal with USPS a lot in my transactions with ebay. Generally speaking, delivery door to door from the US to Canada is around 2 weeks. However, if the package is held up at customs (mine usually are since I seem to be on some hot list), the package usually takes an additional week. Four weeks does seem like a long time for the package to arrive, but I would stay calm. Give it another week before you start taking action. Most likely what occured is a problem with the customs documentation. This has happened to me once. The shipper messed up on the customs forms and the package sat in customs for a couple weeks. The package was returned to the shipper who then had to redo the forms and send it again. Overall, the package took around a month and a half to arrive at my door.

I've gotten raped on customs charges with Fedex as well, so they aren't really an alternative. Also, USPS does NOT provide tracking with cross border packages (unless you use the very expensive DHL international shipping), contrary to what someone else stated. When shipping a package to the states, Canadapost has a service called Xpresspost USA which provides tracking. However, there is no such service like this for US->Canada packages (via USPS).

USPS has been fairly reliable with my packages over the last few years. I would say out of the 100 packages I have received through them, only 2-3 have had problems. The rest have all arrived somewhere in that 2 week window.

Good Luck and remember to stay calm!

Anthony....not an issue if you paid by visa/ m/c/amex. You didn't receive the product therefore you are insured against this kind of loss when you purchase through visa. Call them I believe there is a chargeback for 'nonreceipt of product'. Plus Cox imports has put insurance on things that they ship. or else they are out the money

A good way is to start a trace with USPS. You do have the tracking number right? If so, this is an easy call to start the process.

Hope this helps....but don't worry your money is safe from so many angles
