Used Car Distance Run

Well ok, im wondering, i got a used 04 ep3 at Winnipeg and driving it back over to Toronto over this weekend hopeing to leave first day afternoon and get back 3rd day evening latest (eg leave monday noonish come back here wedn evening latest) ...

Couple of questions
-Fill every how many kms? (highway travel)
-And rest stops within Canada, will not be going to states and go aroud the lakes
-Im guessing that I will be needing several barrels of feul to get to the next gas station?
-The car had a 100 point inspection already and oil change anything else i should be worried about?
-How many kms before giving a car a breather becuase this is around 2000kms overall in a span of 48hrs approx

it should be fine to drive if it had a 100 point inspection. but i would just give the car a look over before you leave there, just to make sure every thing looks ok.

there are rest stops I believe at least every 150km if not less...you can drive the whole distance non-stop if u wanted to other than stops for fuel, pissing, food etc...2000km trip will be in and around 4 complete fill ups

in general there will be gas stations every 80 kms or so along the trans canada highway. we did the drive in our old 86 olds calais w/ like 220K kms on it, except we did ottawa to vancouver. as for giving the car a rest... you'll need more rest than the car, I assure you. once at operating temps, there is no 'fatigue' factor to a car, unless you are redlining the whole way. just put the cruize on at 110 (for optimal gas mileage) and you'll do just fine. i do recommend you wax the front end and mirrors before heading out though, as you'll prolly still encounter some bug splatter despite the chilly weather. keep a bottle or two of octane booster in the car in case you don't find a station with the right grade gasoline (although the EP3 has a knock sensor and will retard timing if necessary.)

octane booster at walmart or canadian tire. same with wax.

good brands for wax: Meguiars!!! i only use Meguiars products (and 3M, but you won't find 3M at normal auto stores, you get it at body supply places). You can use Mothers too, that stuff is pretty good.

i haven't tried the new 'next gen' waxes (the clear synthetic kind), I'm still an old skool carnuba kinda guy. for application, a quality terry cloth towel (white bathroom towel is fine as long as it's 100% cotton made in the USA), or i guess you can use quality microfiber cloths as well... or cloth diapers work really really well.

Octane booster, just get STP or Wynn

Sure there might be a gas station every X # of km. The main concern is would it be open? Trust me you'd probably want to stop every 5 to 6 hrs to stretch out. Oh yeah don't forget to bring coffee.

There is a gas gage on the car when it's 1/4 full you look for a gas station and stop at the next one you find... they are mostly all full serve up in northern ontario... but GET OUT OF THE CAR... you will need to stretch.

This is Hilarious, Seriously I found it quite funny to read that comment. From Winnipeg you will hit so many small towns it's not funny. First there will be Kenora, then Dryden (I looked at a job here) then Thunder bay, thats the first 8 hours done... then the next 8 hours will see you get to Sault Ste. Marie, passing a small town every 100 to 200 kms along the way. good breakfast joint in Wawa the small town before you hit Sault Ste Marie. Then from there, it's 8 hours to toronto Via Sudbury. so you are looking at around 24 to 30 hours depending on break time and there will be plenty of fuel along the way . only time I had an issue with Fuel was when I came back to toronto in 2003 just after the eastern Sea board power outage, only gas available was premium or gold. and they don't drop the price to the regular price when that happens. but this was because the refineries shut down.

Moose, they can scare the crap out of you .. Their legs alone are taller then your car .. if you hit one however don't worry, your dead already.

if it's going to take you 48 hours then I suggest letting the car cool down when you get to your hotel. in 2003 I when from Toronto to Calgary in a 1993 honda civic without stopping for a cool down break, all I did was stop for food and gas. I did the trip in 43 hours. return trip took 34 hours... (those prairies whizzed by)

anyways make sure you google your route.
