94 is the best available 'pump' gas in North America.

But unless you have a JDM motor swap or forced induction its not worth it to use anything better than what is recommended for your motor.

Honestly, I notice no performance differences between ultra 94 and v-power (or other 91 octane grade gas from other stations).

I do however get 50-150km's MORE using v-power or 91. My car seems to just eat up the 94 much quicker.

Thus, I usually fill up with v-power.

it all depends on the motor, the higher the octane, the more it needs to be compressed to combust competely, there is no stock honda motor out there that deserves 94 octane, and even 91 is pushin it with most of them, if ur using 94 octane, and have stock internals, ur grossly wasting ur money, to be honest, u wouldn't need 94octane unless ur motor is seing over 12:1 NA, or 9:1 w/ 14psi, other than that the fuel will never burn completley and u will never get the full potential of the high octane

in other words ur spending an extra $0.10/ltr for no reason, and sometimes making it worse for ur motor.

Well manufacturers specify premium fuel on many models, most of them dont have 12:1 compression or running 14 psi boost , are they all wrong?

For you guys running higher octane in your ls/b20 d16/d15 whatever.. your actually doing more harm than good. THe fuel is harder to ignite so there will be more un-burnt fuel which can kill your valve guides, ring lands, destory cats and oxygen sensors.

Obviously it wont happen if you use a few tanks of high octane, but overtime it'll do harm.

There are SO many more factors then static compression or boost levels. Combustion chamber shape, dynamic compression, spark heat range, cooling system, etc

You can't say a car with 12:1 CR deserves or doesn't deserve 94 octane or not, unless you know everything about the setup.

If it runs good on 87...keep putting 87 in it. No point in spending the money cause your not going to gain anything.

My car runs the same and gets better fuel mileage on 91 as it does on 94, so I save my money and run 91.

Well I kinda wonder.....
I just bought a 94 Civic with a JDM H22A in it and I put some 89 (I think regular anyways) in it on the weekend and even my friend (who is a mechanic and own's his own shop) took my car for a drive and it did have a bit of knock to it. He said too run higher octain gas too stop it. So I have been putting the good stuff 94 in it since and it got rid of the ping! So I would guess that it dose help.

The H22's require 91 octane + to run properly, just like any honda DOHC vtec engine.
