turbos doesn't go into AUTO???
ok... i need to know about this too
i thought turbo can go into anything...... never knew its only for manual driving...... coz u can always OD and rev higher before it shifts in auto.......??? not sure anymore...

Xscorpio 12-Sep-2005 12:41 AM

lol of course you can boost an auto. and no turbo are not only for manuals, pls correct me if i am wrong.

thx

Why would it matter? I think the only problem would be the amount of power the motor would be making and the inability of the auto tranny to handle it. The tranny might need to be modified to handle it.

rjngo 12-Sep-2005 09:22 AM

i didn't know sorry...so turbo can both go with manual and auto, thanks then

imported_kIeRaN 12-Sep-2005 12:50 PM

yes a turbo can go into an auto but you may run into tranny problems down the road.

Xscorpio 12-Sep-2005 02:15 PM

yes, major trany upgrade, plus turbo on auto wont make that much power, because of bad gear ratio, and it wont be able to make enough pressure on time cus auto usually stays in 2 - 3 rpm in city driving.

for auto get super charger, works wonder for auto.

good luck bro!

I've heard of a lot of ECU problems w/the auto FI

Turbos run off exhaust gases....so unless your automatic doesnt produce any, you can run one.
The more throttle %, the more exhaust gases, the quicker the spool.
You know that if you step on the gas full throttle from say 2000rpm the engine doesnt climb that fast, so your lag will be **** at that rpm. I have been in an auto turbo car and it does go pretty fast, but be prepared for some boost coming on unexpected say during a corner when you are accelerating out of the corner.

doode talons came in automatic! and even with the 14B turbo!
my buddy has one why automatic, i still dont know!

p.s dont waste ur time and money id rather do a K series swap! much cheaper!

imported_t_dot_SiR 13-Sep-2005 12:31 AM

i think if you build on an auto tranny, a turbo on an auto would be quick too..... auto cars can drag pretty decent numbers too, don't they?

imported_Xenin 13-Sep-2005 05:23 AM

not for the 7th Gen autos. the dezod kit put down 150hp to the wheels on a LX auto. someone on 7thgencivic.com put down 200whp on a custom turbo for an EX/Si.

EDIT - i meant 200hp on a 5spd. boost is a waste of money/time for auto 7thgens.

Xscorpio 13-Sep-2005 08:17 AM

oh not bad for auto 200 whp

Younes Si 13-Sep-2005 10:52 AM

that would sux though, not getting the power you would with a stick :yummy:

imported_Xenin 13-Sep-2005 03:59 PM

you have to get a tranny cooler for the transmission on an auto if you boost. maybe a torque converter as well but its probably gonna be expensive to boost an auto and not really worth it.

rjngo 13-Sep-2005 08:41 PM

wow...so much info's about turbo and stuff. probably my best bet is to just get a K swap then. thanks for all input

ya, its something like that with all the mounts and everything+motor+install and everything else you'd need......you might as well just buy an LS and turbo that...spend like 1100 on the engine and everything....then the turbo kit...and ur still around, if not under the price of a K swap and u'd have much more power..

imported_MY SiR 14-Sep-2005 06:51 AM

rjngo,

Leave your car stock. It's practically brand new. You still have a nice warranty. Wait until the 3 year warranty ends then think about turbo/swap/etc. Who knows, by that time, you might want a different car...

Or, if you really want more power and want to spend another 10gs, trade in your car for a new Si after it comes out. I guess you can do this later on in life...then you get the latest K series, LSD and a warranty...that's what I would do.

Just my $0.02
