Trustworthy Tire Dealer?

I noticed we don't have any tire affiliates. Going to check out Wheels Direct since they are usually good. Anyone know of any good places, small or big perferably in the Markham\Scarborough\Richmond Hill Area? Looking to get Sumitomo HT Z II , Kumho Ecsta ASX, or Pirelli Pzero's

No one seems to carry the Sumitimo's though. Which remind me.. Toronto Preludes has some really nice Affiliates! Multiple Honda Dealerships, Wheels Direct, and many of the same ones we have. I wish all the "Toronto" names clubs could all share the same affiliates that would be cool.

it would be cool if all the "toronto" clubs can share, but first of all your not even a piad member, so it wont do you any good...

and for tires in the GTA, do you guys not have a OK Tire in Toronto? it's a big *** franchise there are like 500 of them, anyways check them out

Yeah thanks, as if I didn't know that... Its members like you, and comments like that which make me hesitate to become a paid member. But for further clarification, had we an affiliate who dealt with tires who offered a discount I would pay for my membership if the discount was large enough. Hence why I made my comment.... Geeeze

Thanks for the replies.. I'll give Wheel and Tire Zone a call and compare prices. Is there only one W and T zone? I looked on their site and I only see the Mississauga. I thought there were other locations.

Moe,

for the record and because I have worked in the tire business for a bit... there is next to no mark up on tires these days if you buy something at list the guy selling them is laughing all the way to the bank....

also Wheel and tire zone has colsolodated their shops into one west end store.

Thanks Gatherer... so are you saying I can probably bargain them down? Or Is the price they are giving me already marked up very little so there is no room for price drops? Kinda of confused by the reply.

wheels direct is pretty good... but there is no offer for prelude members.

whenever there is an affliate price or whatever.. i'll get a regular price and them mention i'm a member and see if they drop it down at all.

never mention any discount you might have first... you'll find out if it's really a discount that way.

there is automotive warehouse is niagara which is allegedly good.. but all the guy said was "i don't think I have much in 16s, you should come down"... can you check "really, just come on down."

instead of driving an hour each way to maybe save $100, i went to wheels direct. i'm pretty happy.

i got a flat, they plugged it and only charged $10. (That's after my failed attempts at plugging it.)

import automotive or whatever on denison is pretty shady... i wouldn't go back there.

because it just sets a kind of bad image on the club, not saying all members are like that but its not very inviting you know what I mean? Overall everyone is helpfull but I always come across these cocky members that think they are God because they paid $15. On the other hand bbarbulo you've helped me greatly and I always appreciate it.

Younes Si probably didn't mean anything by it, but this is the internet so its hard to tell what someone actually means

sorry, i disagree, tires here are ridiculously expensive compared to us. i'm not saying business here are marking them up alot (although i'm sure they are making a decent profit) but someone is making alot.

for example, my Toyo Proxes 4 (205/40ZR17) are $92cdn ea if bought in the usa (which is where i bought them) where as here they are about $180cdn! ea. that is ridiculous and the sole reason my rubber from here on in is being purchased and installed south of the border. Its sad when tire shops recommend Kumho 711's here for $120-$140cdn a tire and you can get Toyo T1-R's for that price in the us with free shipping to a friends place if need be. $110cdn a tire for Yokohama ES100 vs $175cdn here x 4 that alone is a $260cdn savings not even including tax!

of course there are shipping fee's to be incurred for canadian businesses and that is passed on to you in their price, but $92cdn vs $180cdn...pretty steep if you ask me, especially when they are ordering a **** load to save on shipping but then telling the customer that it costs them so much on their set of 4 tires...sorry, i don't buy it.

you have to understand supply and demand.... there is a smaller population here .. they will sell less tires in Canada... therefore the volume of product moved is less and cost is higher... the retail companies arn't marking up the tires all that much (I know there's a slight profit, if there wasn't they'd find another business to be in, but it ain't much)

for example .... I ordered my race tires at Wheel and tire zone's cost from Kuhmo Canada. they took too long and so I asked they be ordered from tire rack (Andrew has a dealer account with them) and his cost from tire rack + duties and shipping and brokerage was less then getting them from Kuhmo Canada...

So yes prices are higher here.. but thats a volume issue not a markup issue...

Called around .. OKTires is a bit cheaper then Wheels Direct. Wheels Direct has a decent price on Ecstas for $500 Installed for all four. I was considering Tirerack.com but they ship via UPS.. and UPS is just ridicoulous on Brokerage fees. ANyone ever buy tires online that had good experiences?
