tread vs.thread??!!! What gives????

In almost every single post I read for winter tires, or for tires in general, there seems to be a tendency to measure the amount of tire left and call it thread.........
Why is this such a common mistake that countless sellers make? Someone help me to understand this..........

I was at Roadsport Honda and they had a huge windshield sticker that said V-Tech on it, I was laughing......you'd think at the very LEAST the dealer would know their product.......I wonder if the tires on it had good tread............

It is my experience, that generally, most salesmen (not all) know absolutely squat about their product... I've tried to get them to explain how VTEC works for a laugh... though in their defense there's probably a ton of people on here who don't know either...

I keep clicking the last thread and next thread button up top but I don't get to see any tires? What gives? I thought that this was a direct link to all the tire sales and would show me how much tread is left on the tires up for sale.......disappointed yet again.....

Oh, thanks for the insightful thread, maybe one of these days we'll have a grammar session held for our TCC posters (put on by ryanhook ). For now this thread is a post-***** heaven so I'll lock it.
