Touchless Car Washes FTL

So today in Hamilton it was quite mild compared the Siberia like conditions we've had for the past week. I decided to wash my car in one of those Esso touchless car washes. As I'm waiting in line, my friend and I were drawing stuff on my car where it was all white from the salt. After the car wash, I looked at the car and was astonished to find writing was still there!

I went in and complained. They took a look at the car and gave me another car wash. I supposed it'll be good for a rinse, to get all the salt off.. Coin op or nothing from now on.

Anyone else have a similar experience?

I use the one at Simoniz touchless car wash at Upper James and Mohawk...that one does an awesome job.

which esso, the one by mac?? at the corner of cootes and main? i washed my car there too yesterday between classes. Line took an hour to move, but I did manage to hook up my foglight switch while waiting lol.

That wash was good but i shoulda stayed under the dryer for longer , i was scared they might close the door on my car so i moved lol.

Weird. I use the Esso ones all the time here in Scarbo and it is usually cleaner than the ones with the soft cloth brushes like the ones at Petro. I guess it might be different pressure settings at different locations. Another thing too is that when you write on the car with your finger, you tend to get most of all the layers of dirt build-ups off that the touchless can only take off most, but not all the film/dirt off. I usually don't care all that much about the cleaniness of the car during the winter as it will probably be dirty again real fast with all the salt on the roads anyway.

If you actually spend money instead of points on the washes, just go to coin ops. You'll be able to get all the dirt/salt off better than going through the auto wash. Plus, it's probably cheaper too. $10 for auto compare to $6-$8 for coin ops.

Don't think it's a good idea to draw pictures on your car with road salt.

all the touchless ones are crap like that... just like if you went to the coin up and didn't use the brush...

water presure will only do so much when the stuff is caked on ...

the only reason I go to the drive throughs is to get a bit of the salt off not to get the car totally clean.... the bonus of the drive through is that it dries the car off as you leave... the coin op leaves you with drying the car... when it's in negative degrees i definitely can't be bothered to dry the car and loose sensation in my fingers....

you only get swirl marks if you use the brush in a circle which you shouldn't...

as far as scratches if you clean the brush off with the power washer before you use it, you minimize those too...

One way or another those nasty *** brushes will never touch the RSX or Tacoma.

Drawing pictures with salt and grime will etch into the paint? I would be pissed with the ppl who drew on my car more than the carwash!

Thats what I'm waiting for! I've noticed the Esso's here in the Hammer to be kinda weak. The Simoniz wash at Upper James is pretty good.

Yeah its the one right at the corner of Cootes and Main right across from Mac. Long *** wait and crappy wash.

What's this about Simoniz washes are those the ones at Canadian Tires? Has anyone tried the mega car washing across from the Fortinos on Main?

The car was bought with crappy paint anyhow...It wasn't drawing a mural or something. Just a few bits of writing like "Wash Me" and that's about it.

I like to write " FLITH " or if a whole line is needed " I wish my girl was this dirty "
