Timing Belt

Just a note to add here, I think it's a waste to replace timing belt at 100,000km- for a Honda at least. You could go to 140,000km from my experience for Hondas. My Wife changed her 2000 Civic at 130,000km at Active Green and Ross and when I got the old belt back, they looked pretty fine to me. The water pump looked to be in good condition also. My dad didn't change his 2000 Accord until 160,000km. He knows from experience as a mechanic that Hondas belt can last beyond the recommended mileage.
I just sold my 99 Hatch last year and never got the belt changed. Mileage on the car was 140,000km which seems to be pushing it. I'm not saying to drive that much but 120-130k km seems more reasonable.
Anyone heard of timing belts looking worn out at 100,000km?

Sorry to go off topic, but since we are on the subject of timing belts, can anyone explain to me if a car has a timing chain, does it need to be changed, im thinking not, maybe im wrong, and one more question, why do some cars have timing chains instead of a timing belt?

thus, your honda has a TIMING belt; you cannot have both
and last time I checked the timing belt + water pump for a 99-00 civic is to be done at 160KM....not 120KM
called honda and verified this

Every timing belt is suppose to be done at 100,000km regardless of what car.

Just because yours lasted long, doesn't mean they don't snap.
