Sorry to hear that, Eman.

But this kinda stuff happens.

You were trying to sell the car anyways, right? And you weren't having much luck anyways.

Maybe it's for the best. And at the price you were asking, insurance will likely (hopefully) give you that much anyways..

There are two types of bomerang systems........

The first one......YOU have to call when you find the car missing.(so if you don't find out until the morning.....your car could be stripped clean before you even know that it is gone.)

The second version....(the one everyone should get)......automatically reports the car missing without you having to do anything. The minute the car is moved without the key fob in the car, It automatically calls into the monitoring station.

there is only a $100 difference in price between the two models.

Depending on which plan you want......it's about half the price of a pager service....ie....Bell.....Rogers....ect.

I can't help but think that if you did have a pager alarm, you might still have your car, or at least been notified of it going off.

Once the alarm is trigered, it will page the pager/remote on your key's. Even if they were able to shut it off in under 5 seconds, the page would have already been sent.

I know that this is no comfort to you.....sorry to hear that it happened though.

Sorry to hear about your loss man. That was one sweet ride! Hope the cops find the as*holes who took it and make them pay dearly!

Regading the Boomerang system. I talked to a cop who deals with car thieves and he told me that Boomerang is cellular based. Not GPS. What is the difference?
For Example, if your car is downtown, GPS would be able to tell you that you are in front of say 200 College St. W. A cellular system will tell you that you are somewhere between Bloor, Bayview, King and Spadina. It would be almost impossible to find a Civic using Boomerang in downtown Toronto.
This cop told me that he has recovered only a small percentage of cars with the help of Boomerang. He told me he has never recovered a car with On Star's assistance.
He advised me that I should install a starter kill switch and get a steering wheel lock that locks around the steering wheel spokes (i.e. NOT a Club but a cheaper immitation is actually better).
About your car, I hate to say it but it is likely in pieces. The cop I talked to had followed an RSX that was stolen and within 45 minutes of being in a chop shop, it was cleanly stripped, not chopped, stripped!

Yah that's what i have. I always put that thing on, dont care if it really works or not. At least it's a decent deterrent.

What the?? so what was the point of the cop WAITING while the theives stripped the entire car? why didnt he just move in and bust them before they destroyed a perfectly good car?

The cops needed to get a search warrant before busting the place. Cops have to follow the law...

You are kidding!?! Why not?

PS: I've heard of at least three different Civic/Acuras getting stolen for KC parking lot. Probably has to do with TCC meeting there in the Summer.

there were quite alot of thefts in that area, so i was told by the cops.....

as for insurance, well, i had liability, which has no theft coverage

yah but correct me if i'm wrong, if they see someone driving a stolen car and park it in some garage can they not just move in and arrest him?? like if the cops catch someone breaking the law and they run home dont they have the right to kick down the door to arrest him?

something about going into buildings is really tricky with the law, an example that i have from law class is that say the cop comes to your door for whatever reason and smells weed inside, you don't have to let him in and he can't use the smell as evidence for a warrant, so i think it works like that they can't use stuff they see as evidence unless they're actually looking for it to get a warrant, and i don't think they can enter any premises without a warrant, mind you they could have knocked on the door and said hello, that would've atleast saved the car from being chopped..... what the cop should have done tho is pulled over the stolen car before it got to the chop shop, but usually they care more about finding the shop than protecting your car, it's a stupid system like that....

Ah man! That f**king blows. I had a really bad feeling that something was going to happen when you posted about the guy taking pics of your car. If you see him again kick his *** then call me and some other members and we'll beat him all over again.

I'm suprised insruance isn't giving you anything I only have liability and I still have theft.

I wish you the best of luck my friend and if I see or hear anythign I'll get in touch with you the quickest way I can.
