I had to put a $500 deposit down whilst testing a '95 Mitsu. 3000 GT VR-4 (The AWD Twin Turbo) - it wasn't even all that spectacular, it handled like a boat, even with the 4 wheel steering. My civic handled better than that car at the time without sway bars!..although the torque was pretty impressive - the only other car I've "tested" was a 2000 Prelude, which seemed way way faster than the 3000 GT. Soon I hope to test the new WRX STI, Celica GTS, and..anything else fast..

look at it this way...

do you oto work for free so people can **** around and waste your time... i hate people who waste my time... thats why 9/10 times we ask for your phone number.. cause we will call you and see if you want to buy the car...

please dont waste salespeoples time to go joy riding in cars...

BTW.. we copy licneces for insurance reasons.
I agree 100%. Its also these "test pilots" with no intention of buying the car that make dealerships hesitant to allow legitimate car buyers test drive cars.

Blah Blah Blah

I think dealership sales reps should definately pick and choose who they allow on test drives. I know at least a sales rep at every dealership at the woodchester automall, and I have a good relationship with all of them. When it comes time for me to buy a car I know exactly who I'm going to go to.

If a sales rep is doesn't see me as a legitamite potential customer that his loss. Looking back I have owned 5 different cars, thats a new car every 2 years. I have refered friends to dealerships and to sales reps who I think have been fair and courteous.

If a sales reps is going to be a ***** about letting me test drive a car, its pretty indicative of how much he's interested in my needs as well as the level of service I can come to expect if anything goes wrong with my car after my purchase.

My advice to the any sales reps:
Learn to spot a guy who is just there to waste your time, but don't ignore a potential customer. The sales reps that get pissed about it, are usually in it for the short game and to make quick buck. Career dealership sales person will be much more willing to develop a relationship with you because eventually those people will turn into sales for them.

I get enough friends that aren't into cars asking me who to go to and what to buy. I even go to dealerships with friends and introduce them to the salesrep I think they should deal with.

Don't waste these ppl's time... why do you have to be a dick and go joyride cars?? If you want, rent a car, pay the insurance, and go do whatever you like. But taking ppls time just so you can spend an hour in some car you'll never own... I have built up a very good relationship with my car guy, and my family purchased 4 cars from him in 2 years time... he has since moved onto better things, but we still keep in touch and are family friends.

Oh yeah, and dealers won't let you test drive an STi. If you don't know STi, then you prolly don't have the money to buy it Most of these vehicles will go to current WRX owners that just want to trade up. I never test drove my Honda when I bought it, nor did I test drive the Golf or Jetta. We just bought them... Dealers also won't let you drive an S2000, a Type R, and other cars like that...cuz if you don't know, you don't deserve to know...

Agreed, good luck test driving an STi considering there is a waiting list and the price will likely be $50,000+. You might as well walk into a BMW dealership and ask to test drive an M5

Maybe dealers are ****** in toronto and windsor...

just kidding!

I'm not a such a ***** that I go in and ask to drive Type-Rs and S2000s and 350zs... and I don't know anyone at the bmw dealership but I don't think I be foolish enough to ask to test an M-3

C'mon why do we have to use such extreme examples?
Lets exercise some common sense!

Oh sorry JSK, I didn't see that.... you were "ignored"

That wasn't for you or anyone in particular...I was just saying... you can test drive a Neon SX, but not the SRT-4... or Impreza RS, but not the STi, etc. I mean... don't think that b/c a rep will waste his time on you that you can scam him into letting you take out the dealership's pride and joy. Its like asking to test drive a Cobra Mustang or something Once again JSK, not intended for you, just a general comment that even if you happen to scam a ride, it won't be in the top of the line model.

It is definately not right to go out and have a free joyride because you don't want to rent a car. Salesman make their living on sales based by comissions. If you go in and just waste 30 minutes of the salesman time by getting the paperwork done to allow you a free joy ride than don't bother. To be a considerate person I will be forwarding this post along with an explanation to advise dealers in Toronto to be aware of this. Thank you.

I know I know pick me pick me

anyways why the hell do you want to waste your time forwarding this post to toronto dealers? I don't get it. ok after examining all possible reasons for you to want to do this I have come to the conclusion that your a ***** AmizuthX

personally if I go to test drive a car so that I can purchase a new car... and the dealership sees the toronto civics club stickers on my windows and tells me they won't let me test drive the car. well I'm going to go out buy an actual monster trunk (yes I know they are thousands and thousands or dollars, did I mention I work in telecom?) and I'm going to drive that monster trunk all over your little CRV that you think is a civic...grow up !!!!

I'd rather listen to kent complain about women then see your ***** like posts...

People making a living and by many of you joyriding are destroying there income. Would you like it if everyone used emulators on their DSS thus Bell Mobility needs to lay off people. Go rent a ******* car and joyride there, not with a guy's income.

This coming froom a 15 yr old PUNK *** KID that doesnt have his license yet? Get your G2, then talk. All you do is bitch and complain about things that you do not even know about. Go read your thread in Competition, you'll find that most others share this view.

BTW: Test drives are for people who have interest in the car. Doesn't at all mean that you want to buy that car you test drove. Let's say you want a sedan, you go test drive the accord, the malibu, the camry etc... After coming home and waiting a month. You decide you need a SUV. You test drive, the blazer, the pilot, the rav4 etc... Then after consulting with someone you outright go and buy a windstar. Were you wasting the salesperson's time ? NO, your interests changed.

IMO if you want to test drive a car, it's because your looking to see what a car has to offer... People test drive different cars, to get the feel of each one, and see which car will fit them the best.

You don't go out their, and have joyrides and waste other people's time.

you missed the point of my post once again. and quite frankly last I checked the cell phone company bell mobility has nothing to do with bell expressvu... so a rise in emulators for a satelite system will not effect the income of the cell phone branch of bell mobility... lay offs happen to the section that doesn't do well ... hell bell canada is laying of 1700 employees (or reduce that many through buy outs) am I worryed no because bell canadais landlien I work in mobility which is cell so hey I get a big fat bonus and a pay raise and they get layed off... do I care no.. they should be the ones taking steps to prevent their own demise by being more efficient and not becoming a "fat" company. And another thing if expressvu lays off peope because the employees "failed" to stop the rise in emulators well thats too bad for them ... they didn't do their job. at bell mobility before about 8 months ago I could have told anyone how to avoid long distance charges on our network it was easy and simple to do, however instead of leaking this information... I just quietly plugged the hole and showed it to my boss (with proof of 100 grand in profit losses a month because of it) and because of that revenue didn't drop for bell mobility and we rose well above targets because of the increased revenue.

now back to what I was saying about you being a ***** (and I mean it) you said you were going to report this post to the dealers... so dealers click on the link you provide them to get to this post and wow what do they read at the top, they see the words "toronto civics club" ok they finish reading the post and decide that member of the "toronto civics club" are a bunch of people that just like to take joy rides... they decide not to allow these "joy rides" to toronto civics club members....

Now in walks me, with the cash in pocket to buy a car that day. I don't tell the dealers this or they know that they've made the sale before it's done. So I ask to test drive a car... meanwhile they saw my civic drive in with the TCC stickers... they decide to decline my request...I in turn show them the cash as I walk out the door... they lost a sale, all because some ***** of a kid was trying to help them and instead of helping them jaded the dealers and resulted in them losing my potential income...

and most members on this board will buy a new car before they pass on.. so thats alot of cars that dealers that see this post won't sell...

so tell me AzimuthX, who has a worst effect on the income of the dealers you or me?

rant finished for the day

I agree with this, as long you have an interest in the car and are actually shopping for a new car, then by all means go in and test drive a car. I just don't think its right for people to go in and test drive cars that they have no intention of buying any time in the near future and just want to take for a joyride or so that they can say they drove a certain car.
