Test drives???

Is it possible for anyone to go take some test drives? I have my G license but am under my parents insurance. Will the dealers still let ME test the car out? Do they test drive manual transmission cars BTW?

Just Curious

Every car or truck I've every test drove, they've never once asked about insurance. They will most likely take a photocopy of your license.

Whether you test drive a manual or auto all depends on you. If the car comes in standard and you would rather drive it then I'm sure they'll let you.

hmm
i'm not sure, i went with my parents to test drive the SiR and the RSX Type S, i didn't wnat to go in asking because they might just think i'm there for a joy ride, so i went with my dad and we acted like we were intrested before asking for a test drive, we asked to test drive teh SiR, but the RSX Type S, they asked us if we wanted to. but just to let you know i am 19, so i don't know exactly what to tell you.

I test drove a few cars from dealers and small shops. It depends on the place. Most of the places I went to just made me take the car without the sales person with me. I test drove 2 mustangs, a crx, civic si, integra and a prelude and they never came with me.
Only one place never made me take the car alone, the car was a 300ZX so maybe they thought I was going to kill it or something.
But it may be different for new cars, I dunno

You do not require a G to test drive cars

I've tested a Lexus, BMW, Acura, Audi, Mercedes and I'm still on my G2

They will definately take a photocopy of your Driver's License. Be safe and careful because what my dad says you are not covered in any form of damage to the car. So once your off the lot, your wallet is at risk. Some companies require an age to test drive but who follows company policies

well if you try to test drive a hummer they want proof that you can actually afford to buy one first ... hehehe just a little tidbit of info I picked up from a friend who's thinking of a hummer

you go in and talk to them... the trick is NOT to ask to go by yourself, OR you can say you would prefer it if you went alone and that you find sales people distracting.

Do I pretend to want to buy the car? I dont think they will take me seriously. Can I ask to take a test drive? What should I ask them?

ok... im a sales person at a car dealership.

If your not looking to buy the car.. dont waste our time... we work on commision, and if were busy with you pissing around driving cars then we may miss out on a sale...

look at it this way...

do you oto work for free so people can **** around and waste your time... i hate people who waste my time... thats why 9/10 times we ask for your phone number.. cause we will call you and see if you want to buy the car...

please dont waste salespeoples time to go joy riding in cars...

BTW.. we copy licneces for insurance reasons.
