so he brought the wrong part big deal

and yes a motor swap can be completed in just a few hours so other night should be no issue. Also if he was going from the start u can simply say dude you're cars not finished you' re gonna have to give us more time.

The plumbers piping made me laugh though.

i seen kevins car afterwards and a few things bug me, one they told kevin the car would be done in ONE night. Ureasonable? yes. theres alot of work involved and they should have known better, also if i was a shop owner id make damn sure every car that left my shop was running in A+ condition or it wouldnt be leaving cause thats just asking for troubles and a bad name. 600 for a h22 swap is very cheap but not astonishing as we got a quote from other shops and they were only charging 800 for it done properly with a warranty. They should of quoted him properly for the job done right, not let a car leave the shop pissing coolant, the exhaust not lining up is understandable as its a diff motor so it wont line up etc, but the wires just left bare ready to catch on fire? i mean common now what would of happend if that thing caught fire? I'v owned many, many swapped cars in my time and never seen a job done like that. It's the only shop iv ever seen that quotes jobs that are half assed done, in the end everybody and shop that seen the car just shook there heads in disgust, good luck to the shop and i hope they learn from this and dont let cars leave the shop with work done half assed but if my friends want a shop to have work done at they wont be getting my recommendation.

K I aint no expert when it comes to motor swaps. but this is clearly the installers fault.

there is absolutely no reason for the heater core to have a crack on it and leak.

i can tell you exactly why it leaked and I know this first hand.

the reason this happened was the hose attached to the heater core piping was originally stiff so rather then cutting the hose it was yanked and bent with the piping under it. THIS CAUSED the core piping to get a crack on it. THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NO other reason for it to leak if it came in fine.

2)TDC has done many H22 swaps including his own building his motor, putting it back together and turboing it, so the thought of having it done in one day didn't seem to be a problem at the time, I'm sure ppl make mistakes on judgement, not to mention having the guy sitting there breathing down your neck watching your every move isn't cool either, also bringing the wrong parts (buying a head stud instead of a valve cover stud) breaking due to the person who previously installed the H22 in the donor car over torquing it. 3) I was there when he came back with the car, and the coolant leak turned out to be that the heater core line inside the car cracked and was leaking everywhere, now, who messes with a heater core while doing a swap? and instead of asking, he just assumed that TDC was to blame. It was also mentioned that using an ac fan instead of the regular fan was a "hack Job" beacuse it was slimmer and wouldn't fit.

Like I've asked the mods to change this WHOLE POST is being changed so i don't know why people keep bringing it up
We have worked out what had went wrong with me and the owner, i dont' understand why people have to sttep and talk **** for no reason.

First off we need to get this clear, ME as the customer and TDC as the shop are both victims as the seller of the motor had ORDERED ( or HONDA had screwed) the part up, I went on purpose to go pick up this piece as ordered, so i don't understand if you don't have the facts straight why even bother to talk about it. The owner of the original motor had broke the stud while removing the head

SECOND OF ALL I wasn't breathing down anyones neck, i had no ride till one of my buddies got there, We were asked to wait outside which was cool too, I was just trying to learn a few things and check out how the swaps are done, We were never asked if they could be left alone, and when they did we left.

FINALLY Regarding the coolant leak, i am no expert in engines nor do i know the fact why the coolant was leaking so i'll leave that to the experts i just know that the heater was blowing fine unless it was just pure engine musk i was getting either or heater was working still so if the heater core blew up i woudln't have heat right? I'm not sure i coudl be wrong but thats my 2 cents

IN CONCLUSION, I've got no beef nor any comments on TDC , what i've claimed originally regarding hack i've taken back, If you were there yesterday you would understand that Mark, Matt and I talked regarding it and we agreed on terms.

REGARDING *****..... yea i got some , i don't see why it would be ballsy to bring the car back to the shop, We as Matt and I have agreed there was misscommunication and also the middle man (the guy who owned the motor) also played a large part and we've decided to fix all this up. I paid for what was calle da complete swap from what the Middle Man had claimed it would be and since the middle man who made the deal with TDC to do the swap I expected a swap, just alot of what was expected was not communicated properly.

Honestly Matt (One of TDC's owners) offered alot to fix the problems, i've only asked him to do what is necesssary ( he even offered to clean the coolant / clean the carpets) but that wasn't his fault so i've asked him not too .

I'm only trying to get the truth out so anybody who has any **** to talk about just keep it to yourselves as the problem is being resolved.

I couldn't believe they would a car go out on the road in that shape. Wouldn't the shop be some how legally liable if he got a ticket or an accident?

PLEASE REFER TO POST ONE, I've edited it and posted the results

Actually i'll post it here since most people are lazy

Ok
Its 4:17 a.m.
I'm dead tired

But i'd like to take this time to thank the guys at TDC (Matt, Mark, Phil) for doing a fantastic job of swapping my motor in and fixing up all the problems i was having from before.

Most of you who have read this post, i had a swap and alot of things were going wrong, alot of misscommunication and alot of arguements in general. TDC and I sat down to discuss what was the prorblems, what I had expected from the swap / trade that went down. Originally TDC thought that the trade / deal with another customer was just to take out the motor and put it in and vice versa, thats what they thought the job was, while I thought i was getting a complete swap. After getting the car back i was unhappy, displeased and jumped the gun to call them hacks and was just pissed off in general as anyone would be. TDC contacted me regarding this and asked me to go in to talk with them regarding the situation and to see what they could resolve.

Matt( one of the owners) spoke to me and asked me that he would rather keep his customers happy and fix all the problems i was having as we had a miss communication after he found out that i was expecting a complete swap everything done , although the price i had paid wasn't the regular price they charged for swaps ( much less).

After bringing my car back on Thursday, giving them lots of time to fix it up ( as the original job was rushed as i was impatient and needed my car as its a daily ) , they called today ( Tuesday Nov 21 ) and asked me to come in and pick it up.

Originally my car was dirty cause of a coolant leak which caused by an unknown reason later on figured out by the TDC guys, and it was covered in coolant etc. The guys brought the car and steamed it for me and even the outside of the car was rinsed, washed and wiped down, my wheels were cleaned ( white ITRs are hard to clean but they looked clean) and everything was running mint.

I WAS NOT charged for a single cent for the extra labor, just so that they would keep the customer happy. They pretty much went out of the way which alot of people know shops don't do these days.

Im very pleased with the service, I'd like to apologize also for jumping and calling out things that I personally should have discussed with TDC before jumping into the boards and firing off at them.

I would recommend people to TDC. If you guys have any questions you can pm me. Good group of guys, we just had a bad start on communication. Will be dropping by TDC.
