In response to:

'We have hundreds of interested members located from Niagara Falls to Oshawa and everywhere in between.'

Looks like a name change to 'The Southern Ontario Civic Club' is forthcoming

Now, let's see, where is the epicenter between Niagara Falls and Oshawa? Mississauaga, it is

Seriously, all the posts suggest good points and places. I'm not sure if any of the Admin asked for opinions. I've always found that if you ask the question, you have to be prepared for the answer. I'm sure the Admin will come up with an honest decision. No decision will please everybody. That's just the way it is. In a perfect world, I think they will choose a place, then stick with it for a while. Good luck guys (and gals)

new meeting spot

I know you guys are the toronto civic club, but have you ever thought about meeting out around here in whitby or oshawa, I know it could be quite a drive, but there are massive parking lots out here and less cops. There is the lot by Don Cherry's right beside the police admin building (closed at night) and there is a food court right there, it's directly off the 401 (thickson rd) and well theres beer at my restaurant. Otherwise there is always the lake (groan from all the shwa pple) and around 8-9 pm the big lot is always empty and there in enough space and it's public property (right off the 401 too, simcoe street) or even meet out in pickering seems like tons of cops out there and they aren't as pissy out here!
Just a suggestion, prolly too far nyways

Those off us in Scarb or Markham, might be able to make the drive, but I would feel for those west of Yonge......so I can't see it happening...sorry.

Still think having a few differnet locations to meet at would just be better for everyone....some weeks some people might have to drive a little further..some weeks others may have to drive a little further....either way everyone is happy...

a thought from a guy that is too lazy to drive to scarbiria on a wed. night...

On lakeshore, around Ontario Place the parking lots to the lakeside parks you have to pay for, and the parks are open 'till 11pm, so if you park there, and pay, does that meen cops can't harass us for loitering?, i don't think the lot would be too full after 8pm, maybe this would be the same for lakeshore parks east of yonge... (plus the view would be nice)

just a couple copper coins

Woodbine beach is open later and you don't have to pay to park your car...We've been there after midnight and the place is still got people...but the parking lots are empty

I'm a newbie here and I don't really know if you guys will take my suggestion for a meet seriously or not but oh well ,
How about the upper level parking lot at Metro square. On steeles between Pharmacy and Warden.
Check it out , no donut shops and the parking is usually empty at night the last time i went there. All there is is bubble tea and stuff like that. The parking is roughly the size of the KC timmies.

My 2.5 cents
haha

There's no 'off' on the genius switch. Great idea

I agree. If and when the name gets changed to "Southern Ontario Civics Club", then you'll have people joining from the rest of Ontario, so you'll have to change it to Ontario Civics Club... then expanding into the rest of the country, and so on. If expansion ever goes to that extent, I'd suggest having different 'chapters'.

Realistically, I do think the chapter idea would be good though... if it ever comes down to that sort of dilemma.

Whatever...

We have had a meet out here, it lasted all of about 45 minutes before the cops were all over it asking us to leave.
I'll be at Kennedy Commons next week any of you are welcome to come and join me. I am not travelling all over the GTA every weel looking for a spot. I will be at KC until the mods and admin can get together, check out a new spot then move.

Shokker we have a turn out of that csale almost every week now. Some might be a little smaller some have been bigger, but since we went back outside the meets have been very successful and growing all the time.
