TB Cleaner...worth it!

Well, after reading Juggz thread a while back about Throttle body cleaner I decided to give it a go.

I gotta say the stuff does work. I used about half a can between two different times yesturday afternoon. I also cleaned my filter and man...there is a noticable change in engine performance.

Thanks for the heads up Juggz.

On a side note: this is not just a placebo effect. One way I can tell that things are cleaner and running better is by the behaviour changes of my a/f meter. In closed loop and on idle it now bounces smoothly and in perfect rythym...this was not the case before.

Hmmm, would a dirty TB cause idle problems upon start up??

potentially yes...but for $6.99 and about 3 minutes of your time...what does it hurt to try.

The dealer use the similar stuff and they call it something like emission service.
And they charge something like $50 for it.

Yes, I think it's called Motomaster Throttle Body Cleaner. Make sure that the extension is taped to the can cuz when I bought mine, a lot of the cans were missing that extension.

Now you are HappierB16.

Yeah make sure the can has that little extension (red straw). People like to steal that for some reason.

Well, yes and no.

TB is clean but on a side note I have to have my distributor rebuilt (dam crank angle sensor) and my fuel pump is being cranky (what, like 400k is too much? bah)...doh!

$150 is decent considering a new one from Honda is like $20,000

I know what he meant. And I wasn't reffering to the engine.

hehe.. yea, careful richy! it's easy, but still tricky on 5th gen's since the TB is sideways.. on 6th gens it's a piece of cake, open air filter cover, remove air filter and VOILA, TB is staring at u and is not sideways! took me 5 mins to do this! just member to drive the car as soooon as u finish sprayin it!
