Synthetic or non-synthetic OIL?

Synthetic or non-synthetic OIL?
I have a 1999 si and i was using synthetic blend up until my last oil change, about 1.5 months ago, which i used Mobil 1 fully synthetic oil.
Now i know in the honda manual it says to use 5-30 but i use 10-30 b/c it has close to 100 000km on it now.
MY question is, should i be using synthetic oil for my car or not? Some ppl say it makes the engine work harder and it is not necessary. My reason for using synthetic is b/c it works better than the synthetic blend and especially since the winter is coming up, I can drive my car in the bad conditions while proctecting the engine better.
I am hoping to use the mobil 1 again with a mobil 1 oil filter.
Any input on this would be appreciated.
Thanks

Synthetic is the way to go....ive never heard of it making the engine work harder. If it burns alot of oil then you might wanna stick with regular oil. I use 5w30 in my car and it has over 200k and doesnt burn a drop of oil.

i'm just wondering why you are using 10w30? Just because its 10, not 5, dosent mean its a better oil hahaha. The lighter weight is meant to get into the little oil ports throughout the engine. I wouldn't want to mess around with those. You'll have engine wear if oil doesn't get where it's supposed to. As for the synthetic oil, I guess stick with it. Though there really is no reason to put that kind of oil into an economy car. Its just overkill.

synthetic all the way.... u would never go wrong with using synthetic.... also, if the manual say 5, then go with 5... why go 10w30??? go with the manual, and go with synthetic.... safe play!

10w is a bit heavier than 5w so a 10w has a bit better protection,
but in winter time you don't need such a heavy oil bc of the cold temp. but in the summer time it's good to run a little heavier oil....

yea i had an old hatch with 350 on it...and i used 10W 30 all the time
guess it was a habit and yea i figured 10 would protect the engine a bit more
but i will put in 5W30 for this winter
another reason i used 10W30 was b/c i tend to drive my car like i hate it....and i figured the extra thickness would protect against my stupidity....
