SUV Time: BMW X5 or Porsche Cayenne S
BMW X5 - 4.8 V8 350hp for $73K
Porsche Cayenne S - 4.8 V8 385hp for $72K
I know of a friend who owns a 07 X5 but i dont know anyone who owns the Cayenne personally. Online reviews are mixed which was expected and are generally positive for both the models. Meaning...no major issues in terms of performance or reliability.
We test drove both vehicles last week and it just kept getting better and better. Both are unique and very close to each other in overall terms so i guess its more down to personal choice in the end. Driving my SI after the test drive gave me low blood pressure lol. It was just so awesome.
So...net net...my inclination is to go for Porsche. Its the name, performance and exclusivity behind it all. The GTS or the Turbo version would have been nice but that is not on the list.
What do you guys think?

Personally...with the two you have on your 'list' I wouls say X5.
But I'm biased as I work for BMW and drove 6 of them today.
I would say X6 just because they are ten times better then an X5.
But if your looking for something that will be good for a family of four.
Then it wouldn't be much of an option as it has less space (not by much) and the rear seats are buckets.
Although if you don't mind that and went with an X6...you get a twin turbo engine.
And for an extra 1600$$ you can get a chip dealer installed which will give you 360WHP and 420WTQ.
Drove a 335i coupe with the chip.
And it was.....intense.

What the heck is wrong with a wagon???
Nobody wants a wagon anymore. Everyone wants a useless suv. Yes I said useless. Most have less storage than a wagon. They can't really go off road cause they put crappy all season garbage tires on them. They don't handle as well as a car because of the high center of gravity and they get worse fuel mileage. They are a fad, and a waste of money. I can see how they can be practical in some ways, but when I look at how ppl actually use them and how they really handle, and how many I see in the ditch in the winter....useless.
You can get a nice volvo, saab, subaru, wagon in awd with awsome summer and winter handling (with the right tires), great fuel mileage and crazy cargo and passenger space for less money than those over rated, over priced, fuel sucking suv pigs.
Wagons ftw!
