Suggestions on how to keep your car?

Thought I'd get opinions on how to prevent your car from getting stolen. The more mods I do the more I fear having my Civic stolen. The joke will be on the thiefs when they realize they got a pretty stock automatic Civic with simple cosmetic mods but I will lose my car.

So what are some tips / tricks you have for keeping the car where it should? (Of course real pro's will steal it no matter what you do)

I'll start with;

- get an alarm
- get a club or brake lock
- secret kill switch
- don't bling out the car, fancy rims, CF hood, roll cage
- park it in well lit area with lots of traffic
- DO NOT enter it into car shows with listing of mods
- DON'T POST your mods online or "show off" at the local timmies
- park in the garage at home
- don't display your fancy stereo or subs, cover them up
- take off all the advertising stickers for expensive mods
- don't street race and then invite all your street racing buddies to you home for drinks.
- don't follow the same parking, driving pattern (i.e. don't park in the same spot day in day out at work)

Any other tricks?

Good tips, but no matter what, if people steal your car, the joke is always on YOU...that's the way I look at it.

Those all are all good ideas but no matter what you do, if a thief wants your car, he'll get it one way or another. It's the truth and sucks.

main relay in the pocket is a pretty good way to ensure they have to tow it...but they can still jack ur stuff inside the car

Actually that's a very good idea. I use to pull a critical relay out from under the hood of my ol' sports car with the idea someone would need to tow the car away to steal it.

These are all good tips on preventing theft.

My car looks like crap (honestly). It also has crap inside the car... I have nothing that anyone would want to have. I'm also equipped with a custom speaker box (Evian water 12pack cardboard box) for my 1 working 6X9. I think that's why I've only encountered noobie crooks who tried to take my tape deck LOL.

But like a lot of you already said... if they really want it, they'll do anything to take it, no matter what anti-theft stuff you have.

I'm going to look outside at my car now...

all time best way is to not own a car..bottom line...after that is to own a car that looks like **** and if the theif steals it they will most likely get pulled over anyways for a stupid reason lol

Think you got something there. Next suggestion;

- Get pulled over by cops on a frequent basis. Then when they know you by first name, cops will help out recognizing the car when someone else steals it and drives around.
