Stupidness that I just hafta share

My first post since TCC renewed their forums..

I drive a 92 hatch btw, just called Jay about repair prices and now I gotta come up with $500 to fix my car.

Anyway, so yesterday I had to leave to go to school early since I had a group meeting, but had to fill up gas on the way. I went to petro at Burnhamthorpe/Hurontario. I ALWAYS fill up with my debit card, but it JUST so happen that I left it at home, so I had to wait for the pumps on the inside which were all being used.

I reverse park up by a snowbank to wait my turn (and to leave enough space for this van to reverse out.) This lady finishes filling.. goes inside to pay.. comes back out to her van and starts backing out. Then I notice she's not turning the wheel to angle her car for the exit. I honk and held the horn for about 3 seconds, then when she was too close, I throw my car into reverse and back right into the snowbank.

She backed out about 3-4 car spaces not looking back ONCE. I thought she stopped JUST in time from hitting my car.. I only heard some ice crunching from the snowbank.. I certainly didnt FEEL anything hitting me from the front so didn't think anything happened. She pokes her head outta the window going "omg r u ok?" and I was like "WTF" then she just drives off. I pull up by the pump and notice my rear lip was cracked. My fault for backing into the snowbank I guess...

But then I notice my front bumper was off the side hinges. I walk to the front of my car and theres a huge HOLE in it. So I go inside to ask for a survaillance tape to get the lisence plate number of the van but the clueless cashier said I had to wait for the manager to come ( which was supposedly at 2.) I had to slowly drive home, reattached my bumper, and head to school.

I was so anxious about my car that I left after first class and went back to the gas station for the survaillance tape.. the manager wasnt there but the new cashier told me there's no cameras at the pumps so theres nothing he could do.

So wtf Im down $500, cuz some idiot cant drive. That could've easily been a person...or a kid on a bike.. instead of my CAR which I don't understand how she couldnt see. Im pissed that they don't have cameras there and now there's nothing I can do. Even more pissed cuz the lady MUST have seen the damage she did to my bumper before driving off..which was basically a hit and run.

Maybe I'll fill up tomorrow and just leave..see if they catch me. If they do, it'll prove a point that theyre liars and have obstruct the possibility of justice for me cuz of their laziness.

Anyway.. thanks for reading. So the moral of the story is.. FREE GAS AT PETRO @ hurontario and burnhamthorpe! And be careful of sh#@^ drivers.

Andrew 13-Feb-2008 08:26 AM

no cameras at hurontario and burnhamtorpe? lol bull**** haha
go fill up theyll catch you in a day when it comes to them ... i bet you they got em haha.
Go back when the manager is there and talk to him, not some new cashier.

a0d 13-Feb-2008 08:31 AM

haha.. yeah, im not stupid enough to take that risk =p
But they probably overwritten that tape by now...

k_r_a_c_k_e_r 13-Feb-2008 08:31 AM

Sucks to hear that man.. and Im sure alot of gas stations have cameras, even the dank CT by me has one.

MPR 13-Feb-2008 08:48 AM

Yeah I don't get people like that who don't look when they're backing up.

This almost happened to me in stouffville a few months ago. Was driving though a parking lot, noticed this old beat up pick-up truck was backing out of a spot, so I stopped to let him out. He continued to back up towards me. he kept getting closer and closer and he wasn't looking at me cause I could see him in his mirror. The front of his truck was cleared enough to drive off forwards, yet he kept backing up! Realizing he wasn't going to stop, I honked the horn for 2-3 seconds...nothing. I then had to throw it in reverse and step on it to get out of the way. What is wrong with these people!!!?

Gallagher 13-Feb-2008 09:01 AM

happened to me at a cibc in st. kitts.

Old lady backing out, i left ALOTTTTTT of room for her to get out.

I am watching her, not even paying attention whats behind her.

She was about 1 foot from my car and then I layed on the horn for about 10-15 seconds letting everyone hear.

She didn't even stop right away! She kept going to about .5 ft from my car then I started to highbeam her.

She then noticed, put it in Drive and hammered the gas. Almost got into another accident as she raced onto the road and heard my horns.

Stupid old people need to learn how to drive.

Nova_Dust 13-Feb-2008 09:06 AM

See if you can file a complain through consumer association, but unless they catch your car on the camera proving that you were there, they can't just give out license plates to anyone. I am sure you are aware of that.

Sorry to hear about this incident. I always come out and make sure everyone is ok, even slightest touch that did no damage. It is common courtesy. Karma will work on her one day.

This one time, an old man drove an old school American vehicle, so long that when he backed up, I had to come out just to make sure he can clear the drive isle, without hitting my and other people's car. He backed out alright, even after I said "ok ok, stop", he continued and hitted my bumper. He said "thank you", smiled, waved, and then drove off.

What can you do eh?

HKS Power 13-Feb-2008 11:42 AM

The one thing that surprises me is... HOW THE HECK CAN ANYONE NOT HEAR A HORN AND STOP TO LOOK AROUND??

J-SKI 13-Feb-2008 11:42 AM

totally sucks but maybe next time you should keep on the horn for more than three secs and try pumping the horn too. people honk all the time so it's easy to brush off a quick honk or two if you're focussed on something. how could you not know she hit your front end?

T-MacK 13-Feb-2008 11:57 AM

That sucks!
It happend to me once, I was sitting in my car on my lunch break eating a slice of pizza. When some idiot in a truck backs up without looking and crushes my hood.
Hence the CF hood.

screwface 13-Feb-2008 12:17 PM

geez that sucks. i would ask the government to reimburse me for giving a dip**** driver a ****in license. anyway, couldn't you look around yourself for a security cam? they're not hard to spot!

anyway, i always prefer to avoid other drivers when possible. especially at a gas station. i won't even pull up if i can't get a spot. i feel uncomfortable around a bunch of stupid people with vehicles in a cluster**** around enough flammable **** to cash in those points for wings and a harp

Sucks bro, even more so that it was at a gas station.

i was a supervisor for Esso for 1 year. The cameras at gas stations are useless, they can't catch plates, its the gas attendant that has to keep an eye out and jot down plates of people they suspect that might run away.

you may have also noticed late at night a car parked at one of the farther pumps with no one filling gas or anything, thats the car of the attendant working at the time, who parks there blocking any other customer car from being able to use the pump, so the attendant can watch you when you come to the closer pump.

after 10pm if the gas station is empty and you go to the farthest pump to fill up, most likely the attendant inside is watching your every move.

How do they suspect that?, and who do they jot down?, its usually pump one and two,or pumps that are not in view of the attendant, specially stations that have the counter sideways to the pumps outside, you may have noticed new gas stations have the counter facing you right there in the centre as you walk in, so they can observe all the pumps. some bigger stations even keep small binoculars.

The plates are too hard to recognize on the cameras, even the best coloured HD cameras, require a special police investigation zoom in equipment to capture somthing.lol, and if they did that for ever incedent that had a fill-up and leave they would have to catch 5 times the number of every gas station in canada.

i asked my supervisor while on training, why do they tell customers that the cameras work then? he said because we want people to be scared and not run away with gas, which happens about 5 times a week on average!! in a good city in one station. How do the recover the cost? the gas attendants pay check, who ever is on duty is responsible for such loss through their pay checks. lol thats why i quit as soon as i could.

so there is no way anyone can help you there.

i know young guys that worked at the station i supervised, who came at rush hours at the farthest tank with USA plates, fill up the car and leave.

since they worked there they new no one could do ****, and if they did get confronted by me, they would just pay up for that particular fill.

Im not supposed to tell this to you all or the public, but lol i don't work in that field anymore and neither am i obliged to any contract, plus i hated my bosses and employees they always somehow stole money, gas or food from there, and they never got caught, but i did fire 2 of them, hence how i know what they did.

anyways, bro, what you could do is go back there, and see if the women comes back there, should have looked at her plate bro, she was reversing, although i was trained to be exceptionally aware of my surrounding from the army,it is a skill everyone should have, it does wonders, i know what happened happened, but just remember for next time, be aware of your surroundings, it was great you almost predicted the accident and it did happen, but i know, i have hit a snow bank, and the sound from hitting a snow bank must have taken your attention from the lady hitting you.

i hope you find that lady.

shlammed 13-Feb-2008 02:23 PM

go to gas station

see cameras?

the end

ForSale 13-Feb-2008 03:11 PM

^^ maybe you didn't read what i just posted.

1. they won't show him the tapes unless he's the cops.

2. even if they did, there is no way you can see the plate on the camera.
