its to bad american automakers need 2.4L and turbo to get 230hp..... thats not even 100hp/L.... not that specific output nessessarily makes a car faster but shows how well the engine was designed.... clearly not well from dodge yet again....

good ol honda had 100hp/L way back in 88 or 89 when the first b16 was released... man thats like 14 or 15 years of vtec

but 100hp/l is not a good mark ... and honda being the 1st to do it is crap too there is a lawnmower engine that did it long before they did....

the true measure of power is the torque .... and torque is nice in that car .... 250 ft/lbs

and even more important is power to wieght at 12.9 lbs/hp compared to my civic with 19.7 lbs/hp thats a pretty good ratio if you ask me.... a very nice ratio

it would be even more different if I compared wieght to torque numbers between the 2 cars

Yeah guy's it all looks good in writing and the showroom floor.... Alright even the first 3 months...BUT.... It's still a NEON! After a few month's it'll start having probs., compression will be gone, turbo's bearing going....etc.

Well.. my civic is only 68hp/l and only has 98ft torque. My civic is ****. I would probably take the SRT over my Civic.

Bahahaha.... I had a turbo Daytona Z for a little bit. Your statement goes against every logical thought process known to man.

I'd lease an SRT-4, but f00k buying one, I'd never want one after the initial lease period. I'd lease it so I can beat it

I had a rental Neon once, and in the 4 days I drove it I managed to break the tranny, snap an endlink in the front swaybar, and make the CEL come on. And it was a pig on gas... about $5 every 1/2 I drove it. I hate Neons, even though I considered getting one cuz I think I could make a fast one for dirt cheap.

Those old cars they only need an engine rebuild and they ran good......The Daytona may be the only exception to the turbo cars but the dusters and shadows are ******* crazy....

Dusters and Shadows ran the same unreliable 2.2L turbo motor as the Daytona.

In any case, I have to agree with most that I also wonder how reliable this new turbo Neon will be. Based on the poor reliability track record of the regular NA Neon, you have to wonder if this new one will last long.

one thing for everyone to remember who is saying there civic only make 68hp/L is that your civic is maybe worth $4000 and is probably a few years old... this is a new car worth $27 000....

take my car for instance... a 93 Si hatch.... i could get a b18c5 motor installed... and get fully adjustable suspension and brakes and basic bolt ons for that motor... i bet all that could be had for $20 000 and that would make one hell of a better car then what dodge is releasing here

numbers dont mean a thing either... that new sentra se-r v spec is rated at 180hp and 180ft lbs of torque but it only put like 140 something to the wheels... and drives like a boat

Haha... all it needs is an engine rebuild... is that ALL?? Wow, excuse me... I thought it would need MUCH more than an engine rebuild. j/k

And even then, you dump $5K into a motor to be built right, and you still have a 1988 Dodge Shadow Besides, dodge can't make a manual tranny to save their life...

Guys, drop the speculations here.

The SRT-4 is the best bang for your buck performence car out right now.

The HP and TQ is under rated. It can hit high 13's stock. Add on the Mopar (Warrenty approved) $400.00 upgrade and you get over 260hp and 260 (or 280, I forget) TQ.

Plus, it can handle the twisties pretty well from what I hear.

I've also been checking out some SRT-4 forums... no big problems yet. Seems like it's doing good.

Give it a chance.
