Speedy broke my lip... what can i do?

so, i went to speedy after work today to get something checked out with my car and they went to put it up on the hoist and they cracked my lip off while doing it... because the car is low and it didn't have enough clearance. i told the guy that he should maybe back it in or jack it up or something and he said it should be fine... so, they were like, come back tomorrow cause its 6pm now and we will take a look at it in detail in the morning and then he said we will figure out how to reattach it.

well, it cracked just at the edge of the bumber near the wheel well just where it has the angle to tap into the bumper. he said maybe the could epoxy it or just put some screws in, but i don't really want extra screws in my bumber and it to look like it cracked and i reattached it... and i definitely wouldn't want a glued lip on my car... is this fair for them to do, or should they replace my lip? i didn't ask about replacing it because i was unsure if they have to or if its a policy of theirs.

i don't even care... i could put it back on, i just don't want it to look like ****... thats all.

make them replace it, then reinstall it yourself,

if they don't want to replace it, take them to small claims court...

they busted they pay for,, Just in case get a price for a new lip and show then how much it is. Get john Lo to give you a written price for how much it is for a new one, and tell them to give you the money for it, or them go out and get it. if you show them nothing then they'll be like "oh its only $30 for a new one" and they'll try to scam you. keep us updated on this please

First off, that bull crap. Telling you to come in tomorrow only releases them of liability. How do you know that they will admit to it the next day that they broke it. If any shop told me that they broke something on my car and basically instead of giving me good customer service and helping then and there, basically pushed me out the door literally saying that they are closing up shop and said to come back tomorrow, I'd make a huge sink about it. You can go in tomorrow I guess but, I wouldn't expect them to be doing anything. My 2 cents.

And for future reference, NEVER go to Speedy for ANYTHING!!! They are the industries bottom feeders. I've heard all kinds of stories about auto shops and the worst experiences of them all are from Mr. Lube, Jiffy Lube and SPEEDY. Customer service is key. Not only do they lack certain skills but, most of the complaints I've heard about or experience is from customer service.

Cheers,
Buddah.

i have just had so many problems with my car and trying to get it runnning 100% that when the lip broke off i was speeechless...

the guy said to me,

"that's what happens when you have a lowered car"

I was thinking, my car has been lowered for like 2 yrs and I have never had that problem... i know the car and know where i can take it and thats why i suggested to not take it up the ramp regularly... i remember going to another speedy and they turned me away because they said my car was too low to go up on the jacks....

leaving to go there in like 10 mins or so, we'll see what happens.

What did you need them to do for the car? Since you live in Mississauga, I can recommand you to a Asian mechanic whom I trust quite well, if you need any simple services in the future.

Hopefully things will work out for you.

i went there and they finally took a look at it... they said they couldn't figure out the problem with why my car was pulling to the left, but they said my tie rod end on the passengers side is worn and should be replaced and the ball joint on my drivers side...

so, "You wanna fix these things and we can take care of the lip for you?" thats what they were asking.

I asked if they were the cause of the problem and he said no, but they may be contributing to it.

So, they argued with me about not wanted to get the repairs done and them having to replace it... i hardly think that has anything to do with it... they broke it... it was fine 10 mins before i went in...

I told him, if you could fix the problem i am having then fine, but if you can't i am not going to fix something that doesn't really need immediate atttention as the unsafe thing right now is the pulling to the side. and i have enough money for one repair and if i weigh it out, my car pulling to the side when i hit the accelerator is more of a major problem...

they were pushy about me leaving the lip with them so they could "fix" it and pretty much glue it back together and they wanted to tap screws in my bumper to hold it in... i told them they are wasting their time because i am not going to be happy with that since i know it will just break the next time it hits... which is going to happen, i am sitting on h&r race so, i am sitting pretty low...

end of the story is, after like an hour and them bitching they agreed to just replace it... i found one and they paid with credit card over the phone and i am picking it up on thursday. so, i am just going to install it again and keep trying to find out what is wrong with my car... it realled pissed me off that they were telling me that they don't want to replace it because i am just taking my car in to get a "check-up"... its not my fault they look at everyone's cars...
