Speaking of Mazda

Well folks, after all is said and done...

I am now the owner of a black 2003 Mazda Protege5...

Added a cold air intake and sport exhaust system and waiting until Mazda opens their MazdaSpeed shop in Toronto before doing any more.

I hear tell of Turbo kits for the Protege's which run in the 4.5K range and give 180hp and 191ft-lbs

As it is now, with pistons, cams and other small stuff I can bring this motor, which lacks severely compaired to what I was used to, up to 170hp.

Having it installed at a mazda dealership it won't void warrenty.

Anyways, long and short, I will still be around the TCC now and again and for those who are interested, I will be joining the Toronto Protege club after delivery of my vehicle on Saturday.

Regards,
OK

Watch your 3rd gear....it's my understanding it has a tendency to eat itself in the first 5000kms. I've heard of 4 such instances. It's just not a Honda.... But nice purchase, I was thinking about one of those recently

Jeff, I will be sure to do that as soon as I get a Wednesday night off.

As for the Mazda 6, yes they are out already and look nice, however with the sticker price of like 31K you might as well go out and get a WRX.

Aero: Mazda is releasing kits under a Mazdaspeed line which are SUPPOSED to covered under warranty, at least that is what I am gathering.

Right now you can get pistons, cams and ECU from the JDM Protege and bring it close to 170hp...

Without the ECU you're looking at around 2600.00 installed.

OK

Congrats on the new car!! Do all the new Protege5 come with black housing headlights?

They should come out with a Mazdaspeed version of the P5.

Junior, not sure about the black housing headlights

As for a MazdaSpeed version... MazdaSpeed is opening a shop in Toronto in the very near future and will be selling a turbo kit for the 2.0L Protege5 motor.

I plan on looking into beefing the internals first as the current turbo kits for the Protege5 are only boasting 168hp and 191ft-lbs at 6psi.

With the JDM internals for the ZE engine you should be able to get that number over 200hp and 200ft-lbs at 6psi...

Can we say ZOOM ZOOM time for OK ;o)

Regards,
OK

That right, the 2003+ models all have blackhousing headlights now. IMO, makes a nice looking car look even better.

I think that the Protege5 is a fantastic choice, especially with the coming of a MazdaSpeed shop in Toronto!!

You'll be doing some real ZOOM ZOOM once you get that turbo!!!
