Son of a ...

Well if it ain't one f#$%in thing it's another...

Drving down the 427 and happen to take a look at the oil pressure gauge and notice it is waaaaayyy low. ****...so I decide to get off the highway and check it our..

Pull off and now that there is no wind black smoke fills the air...so I pull off the road. Check the oil and it is all but gone.

I look around and notice that there is oil everywhere where the oil sender unit is for my autometer gauge...brutal...I thought this gauge was supposd to help...not cause the frikin problems.

Anywho...call a tow truck to come and get me and take me to Altech. Guy comes, picks me up, tows me over there.

Notice when we get to Altech that he has ciompletely buggered my left rear quarter. Paints gone...big bend i nthe metal...big scrape...f#$K

Now I gotta get the car safe to drive again just so I can get it to a body shop to fix...AAAAHHHH!!!

Man that sucks large!!

Is the tow truck company going to cover the body work? or are they being asses and denying they did anything to damage your car? Well i hope you get everything sorted out soon!

Nah - luckily the towdriver was cool and accepted he was at fault... but then again it would be hard for him to deny the damage when he has to kick his forks out from my wheel well cause they are wedged against the body...

Thanks for the vote of confidence anywho.

That sucks ***.. Sorry to hear that, man.

Oh, by the way, I saw your car on like Tuesday on Old Main Street at around lunch time (I think it's called Old Main Street, close to the really nice parks and stuff), I think you turned an looked at my friend's blue EK Si with the 17s on it.. He was a car or two a head of me. I don't think you saw my car (silver EK Sedan)...

Best of luck getting it all fixed..

This is still to be determined...

Oil Pressure got to below 25psi on the highway when it normally runs at 75psi.

Apperently bearings are spun quite easiy in a B16 with low oil pressure but I am fairly optomistic because:

I was driving like a stoned granny at the time, barely doing 100 @ 32oo rpm.

Having blown a motor less than a year ago I stil have those sounds haunting my sleep. I didn't hear anything out of the ordinary and to be honest didn't really even feel any changes in drving characteristics...

...but stranger things have happened.

shokker - if you are talking about Unionville then yup, that was me.

let me guess, you where still using the rubber tubing that comes with the autometer oil pressure guage? I don't know why autometer supplys those crapy lines with there guages . what happened to you has happened to many people I know. an easy fix which will prevent this from happening again is autometer copper tubing(they sell this seperate, no wonder ) I have some spare after my guage install and will be more then happy to give it to you....you've got my # still, right?

the low oil pressure reading was probably due to the line breaking, your engine should be fine

Well - all is okay now.

Actually, I was using the copper fiting...

The problem arouse because the oil pressure sender is just plain too heavy for the inteded design setup...as the motor vibrated it slowly cracked the copper at the thread and started to leak.

That being said I no longer have the sender mounted there anymore. I have it mounted on the shock tower and it is fed with a steal braided line from the block...this will not happen again.

All in all, this little hickup will cost over $1000. I went and got a quote from Sunnnyside Collision (Gary coming through again) and the damage is over $800.

Anywho, all is well, got an oil change at the same time cause, well, I had no oil anyway. Switched to Amsoil Syntetic...nice stuff.

Happy is Happy again...atleast for another day.

Glad to hear everything is okay. Is the Towing company picking up some/all of your repair bill?
