yah.. but this is a 4 cylinder civic, not a mustang... my recomendation, before you go drop 2 grand on this, find someone with an auto b16 and sit in it and see if you really like it. torque+auto= decent. no torque+auto=

PS- guys like me are trying to save you from making a mistake.... but its your money... go blow it if you want

if you learn to drive manual, drop in a b-series, standard bolts on and a bit of tuning and you'll have a civic that can run with auto mustangs no problem.

And driving manual you'll get the most out of your VTEC =)

If you really wanted an auto, but still wanted a sporty Honda product, then maybe a base or premium Acura RSX might be a better choice. They have the base K20 engine and are available in an automatic. You will still get your 160hp and auto tranny and they can be found for between 10-15g's.

IMO a decent EK plus the B16 swap and an auto tranny might be more of a pain then anything.

Did the 99 Si not come with a SOHC vtec engine?

In that case you've got a vtec engine, it's just not a DOHC vtec engine. If you really want a B series (DOHC vtec engine) with an auto tranny, it'll be hard to find a B series autotranny.

You could swap in an H22 DOHC vtec engine and auto tranny from a Honda Prelude. (If the H22 auto tranny fits) That would be pretty quick for an auto....

it's a bit more complicated but nothing a reputable shop can't handle

edit: if you're gonna consider an h22 swap, you should probably also consider a k swap, a bit more money but worth every penny. Newer engine, newer technology (i-VTEC) and just better in general.

i learned stick about a year ago, haven't looked back since lol

yeah with 3000 you dont' have too many options, if i were you i'd save up and wait until i can get a better swap. but it's your money so whatever works for you.

Do any of you guys know any dealers where you can do like a pay there a month type of thing not through a bank? I know it's rare but there are places lol. It seems like the rsx would be a better choice for me, but i've already tried at terrace gate acura and it didn't go through.

what's your budget. Your income is probably the reason you didn't get approved.

have you considered buying privately? If you're swapping the motor buy a car with lots of kilometers on it.

Well I mean 400 a month is decent. With a 2000 dollar downpayment, but now i can put down 3500 down or even 5000

an h22 and k20 are more expensive. K20 swap your looking at the upwards og 7-10 g's all said and done how you want. If i were in the shoes i was in a few months back when buying my car and had the money i had now i would get an rsx in a second, hopefully ill upgrade in a year or 2 and stick it out with my civic
