EK = 96-00 civic chassis
if you find the same year EL's it's a straight plug and play
and there's not much difference between a 96 and 99 si, just minor changes in the front end and different tail lights, that's the only differences i know of

it's most likely just the stock si engine....doubt it's a swap. dont' worry about the whole vtec engine thing, you can google it of wikipedia it if you want but vtec is just old honda technology that makes a nice sound lol.

edit: it actually does more than that, so just google it =P

EK is the chassis/generation code.

All civics from 96-00 have the EK chassis code (except 99-00 canadian SiR models and US Si models (same car which has the chassis code "EM1" ))

Here's a link to all the honda civic chassis (generation) codes from 1988:
http://www.geocities.com/MotorCity/F...ssiscodes.html

When you hear ppl talking on here about EG's, EK's, EP's, EF's...etc.etc. you'll know what they're talking about.

The D series engine in your Si will be a SOHC vtec engine. They are decent for modding and make pretty good power. The vtec system on a D series is not as noticable or effective as that of the DOHC B series vtec engines such as the B16A2 (found in the 99-00 civic SiR model) and the B17/B18 series (found in the integra GSR).

On a B series DOHC vtec engine, with a good intake system, you can hear the cam change over (VTEC) hit (from 5600-8200rpm on a B16) and you can really feel it during acceleration as well. (look up some videos on youtube or streetfire.net)

Some B16A2 from JDM came with an auto mated from the factory. Different cam/vtec setting due to the automatic transmission. I remember seeing a B16A auto for sale but it was in Cali.

AUTO FTW for GTA grid lock rush hour traffic.

BTW: You can't mix and match B series and D series parts/tranmissions.

I had a 98 Si and it was a great little car. Somedays I wish I never got rid of it. I would try to find a lower k 98-00 Si, bone stock and 5 speed Maybe with the G package too. It adds ABS and A/C. Learn to drive stick and you will have a great car with lots of potential for very little cost.
