Try growing up with someone who drinks and drives and then let me know if you would call the cops on your only means of transportation... a lot of kids are in that situation and dont have a choice.
so you are against drinking and driving, yet get into a car with a drunk driver.. I'm not really criticizing you, i;ve done it before too..

I'm just pointing out that drinking and drivign isn't really as evil as you claim it to be, since you are willing to knowingly participate in it.

well because you dont know the circumstance's I will explain it to you. I lived alone with my mom and my sister from when I was 4 till I was 13 years old. She was an alcoholic. I had no choice but to get in the car with her. she would drink in the car and before she drove. If I put up a fight I punished. If I did anything else I would have had to move at least 5 hours away from all my friends and my life. Thats what I decided was best when I was 13. Everyday was a fecking nightmare, going to school, friend houses everything. Plus it was a small ****** out town so the only way to get anywhere was a car.

Because of the experience I never have gotten in to a car with a drunk driver since and I never will... I also don't drink to the point of anibreation myself.

Hope you feel like a dick again for assuming.

^ for more than 13 years she was never caught drinking and driving and she did it everyday. I mean to the point of swerving off the road, sleeping in her car on the side of the road with 2 kids in the back seat. The only reason why she got caught is because she was on a trip back home from toronto and got caught sleeping in her car in Orillia and asked 2 guys to help her get her car out of a ditch she passed out in. The guys played dumb until the cops came.... by the way Orillia is where the opp college is if you didn;t know.

no, i do not feel like a dick at all.

if anything, you reinforce my point that your opinion of how bad drinking and driving really is, is kind of invalid, if you have first hand experience of it being done for 13 years with no real harm other than your feelings getting hurt.

I hope you feel as strongly about not getting into a car with "street racing" equipment installed.

I never once said I didn't get hurt from it.... there was a few accidents and mentally it takes its toll on you even when your that young.

and WTF do you consider "street racing equipment"??
There is a difference between having it and using it. As long as the use is on a legal track.

Just think of how many people would get the IP ban stick if the TCC admins could do an audit of the street racers here. I noticed it just a certain amount people who are doing the most complaining.

sol2nv didn't you admit to driving under the influence on tcc before? I remember something to that effect. Let me find the post. If I can't I'll stand corrected, but I'm pretty sure you did cause I made a comment on it.

Anyways I think people who drink and drive and street race deserve the same harsh punishment

I wasn't complaining, I was just stating that instead of making this a big deal for political reason, you could focus more on drunk drivers or some other major issue like poluted skies every time its for 20 degrees! lol

from the article

Grodzinski said the division is targeting three main areas to reduce accidents and make Ontario's highways safer:

* impaired driving;
* failure to wear seat-belts; and
* aggressive driving.

Deaths due to impaired driving have been on a steady downward trend for many years. Deaths due to street racing have sharply spiked in the last couple of years. I'd say that up until recently, they haven't placed enough emphasis on combatting street racing.

There is a big difference between the 2 and you know it...

I wont get into a car with a drunk driver, nor will I get into a persons car if I know they street race.

That being said, just because someone's car is boosted, or has rims or a preformance exhaust does not mean they will street race (or whatever you consider street racing equipment). What if the car is the person's daily driver and they take it to the track on weekends to race it or use it on the track?

Are you not going to get into a car if a person has unopened beer in the back seat?

There are many people who have cars that mommy and daddy bought them that have 0 mods and they street race....

the point is that both drunk driving and street racing need to be harshly punished and are not acceptable.. BOTH

using one to diminish the importance or danger of the other one is simply not a valid argument.

I was not stated it was used to " diminish the importance or danger of the other one" I was saying politicans are focusing more on the one right now because its under the spot light.... ow with this new DUI incident I think it might even out again.

People are complaining because the police are being given too much power when it comes to these so-called street racing laws, what exactly is street racing? There are too many ways to misconstrue what street racing is. An officer having a bad day see's someone in a modified car accelerating harder than usual can be turned into a racing charge. I have a perfect driving record, never been pulled over, im a defensive driver who doesnt do stupid things. However when I put my car back on the road I am taking a big risk, potentially I could be deemed a street racer for simply driving a modified (clean) Honda. The bottom line is the whole street racing issue in the media and with our politicians is mainly for political benefit, there are a number of more important topics such as drunk driving, people running redlights, people that always drive aggressively all the time and people who shouldnt have their license at all. I see this kind of crap everyday! When was the last time I witnessed anyone racing......... I dont remember. That being said im all for tough laws for anyone caught racing, if they havent figured out after all this time that they shouldnt be racing on public roads then they shouldnt have their license at all.

I agree, the vast majority of these incidents are spoiled brats in cars that mommy and daddy pay for and insure. They drive around like maniacs in quiet stock cars and get away with it, all the while the dude who paid for his modded car and keeps everything lowkey can get bothered.

I think I should put all of these street-racing, drinking and driving, ban front plates, I hate cops threads in one big sticky.
