So we are going to have a Mini, confused on the colour scheme
The payment is down, the order is in, the car will be on our driveway either in November, or end of January 2005.
It is a Mini Convertable.
Now, my parents are having colour issues. Technically, it is her car. She likes green so British Racing Green was in effect, plus a light green soft top (as you might have seen some 3 series BMW on the road with the same exterior colour + beige interior) and regular black letterette.
My dad just sold his green Si, and he never liked green and he suggests Pure Silver exterior with black soft top (and same interior, black).
Me, I am good either way. Green on green is, not ugly but rare. Some folks just can't accept it. Usually, people have black or tan colour soft top. It is like my purple car, some people think it is gay.
Other colours are not considered, be it yellow, red, astro black, hot orange (that new convertable only colour), cool blue... blah blah blah...
So, either BRG or PS colour. What do you think?

1st of all... convertible = ewwww!! I would have taken the hardtop in BRG and white roof - classic mini colors. But given that you're getting a convertible (why though?? with that money, you could have gotten a Mini Cooper S) .... silver/black would be a more appropriate combo. Green on green is too nasty. Tan on green would be okay w/ me... black and green are too... blah.

I'm partial to the silver like Bruno, (no kidding, both our cars are silver), never really cared for green. Had a green 626 and wasn't crazy about the colour but it was second hand and was a good deal.
They need to find a compromise in colour that they both can live with

As they claimed it, Mini Convertable top shares the same technology as BMW 6 series, quiet and sturdy. Opens half way to become a sunroof, and opens fully to become topless. We sat in one (my mother and I) Monday night, and it was a quiet ride. I understand the price jack, but my mother will not drive standard (she knows how to, but she refuses to). So, Cooper S is out of the question from Day 1.
As for green + white top, I agree with that combo. But they don't offer white soft tops. Only black, blue and green. As for body colour, originally, we agreed on Pepper White Cooper with black hardtop, everything changed until she saw the convertable. Our family never had a convertable car and this might be a chance to own one. And I have no idea why they don't offer Pepper White for convertable.
Silver colour is nice, suits all age groups and type of cars. Makes the car looks like million dollars. Which is why, a lot of Mini on the road are these funky new shades, to draw more younger crowd into the market. BRG is traditional and not many people would bother with it.

Yes, cleaning is another issue that my father raised. But the thing is, you need to clean silver car just as often as dark colour cars (if you really care for the OEM paint and want to keep the dirts and salts off the car).
At least I would. If anything, silver cars makes people lazy and not to clean their car, becuase it doesn't look as dirty. Don't you think?

What I meant was, that majority people bought silver car because it requires less wash than other cars. For car care people like us, yes we wash it more often than other folks.
Neil probably washes his car more than he showers.

Jason, you and your crazy IKEA colour scheme, in fact, our kitchen was like that. I painted it and I felt quite European back then.
You know, silver Mini doesn't look that bad, but it might look best with Cooper S package, with 17" rims and other little neat features. Looks mean.

Built by Tritec in Brezil, join venture of BMW and Chrysler, provides engine for BMW Mini, Neon, PT Cruiser and some other cars. I suppose it is not a strickly Chrysler engine, gotta have some BMW technology in it. Next generation Mini engine will be built by BMW/PSA group.

i would go with the silver because the paint will look better down the road than the green. You will notice ALOT of swirl marks on a dark green just like on a black car. I think the silver would look way better overall with a black interior.
