4th gens are the easiest cars to break into...took me about 2 seconds flat when i locked my keys in...and yea even on older honda's like my 89 you can't lock the driver door when it's open

yes you can. like Nova_Dust said, pull up the handle as you would when opening your door, and then lock it.
