Snow Tire Time?

Well its getting near that time...

time to pick dibs for when the snow tires go on.

I know it doesn't snow until the end of December...

but frost and icy roads are to be considered.

I'm going with November 1st as my pick.

:drivesafe

SweetCivicGurl 02-Oct-2003 11:37 AM

yup i agree w/ you sam...i say nov 1st is always a safe bet
unless of course you live in london, b/c they had snow this morning and it actually stayed on the ground

imported_gatherer 02-Oct-2003 11:43 AM

no snow tires for me ... no winter driving for me either

imported_SedanBoy 02-Oct-2003 12:38 PM

*sigh*... can't believe it's time to think about snow tires again...... but i'm going with sam's choice.... nov 1 is my plan too....

EL_Sport 02-Oct-2003 12:47 PM

I would say mid to late November would be best. Remember snow tires have a softer compound than regular tires so they will wear alot quicker on dry pavement. Even if it snows/flurries before this date, its not likely it will even stick to the ground or accumulate at all.

Third weekend of October for me....

BOND007 02-Oct-2003 12:55 PM

      i AM ALREADY ON SNOW TIRES

imported_Torrey 02-Oct-2003 01:13 PM

my snows are on now.... its way too cold out for summer profile tires.

imported_EG4door 02-Oct-2003 01:13 PM

Mid Nov for me

imported_Hype One 02-Oct-2003 01:20 PM

I'm with you JookSingKid. Nov 1st.

90EFHB 02-Oct-2003 02:05 PM

rule of thumb on during thanksgiving and off at easter.

Gallagher 02-Oct-2003 02:31 PM

shouldn't that be vice versa ?

bbarbulo 02-Oct-2003 02:38 PM

one more week for the Civic, then it's up-up-and away into storage. In that week of time, I need a new rad for the winter car, and buy winter rims/tires for the winter car too... at least... plus oil change to 5W30 as I'm running 10W40 in there now.

one more week and into storage? wow id say the snows gonna come down starting Nov 15th and just a warning to those who decide that winters gonna be over soon put your summers on in mid april :D

Gallagher 02-Oct-2003 02:53 PM

is it bad to have a carbon fibre hood on in this weather ?

bbarbulo 02-Oct-2003 03:10 PM

rice... yes

joker, yup, one more week... the car has seen enough kms this year... it's ready for storage. Plus my upper ball joints need replacing (so I'll let it sit as it is until springtime) and I'd like to drop the exhaust manifold in order to have the flange copied for a turbo manifold, so I want to do that before snow hits.

If you are as$ backwards and run your snow tires in the summer then yes.....but most of us put them on in the fall and take them off in the spring:thumbup:

Gallagher 02-Oct-2003 03:40 PM

well, thanksgiving is coming up and you said on.

Easter is in april i think and you said off. To me that sounds a lil backwards..

Or did I not get enough sleep ?

Gallagher 02-Oct-2003 03:41 PM

wait wait, your talking about SNOW TIRES. I was thinking about summer tires, and taking them off. NEVERMIND !

imported_ryanhook 02-Oct-2003 03:44 PM

All-seasons work fine for me. I can't justify purchasing winter tires for this area of Ontario.
