i believe the Si has 127 horsepower with a SOHC engine, while the SIR has 160 hp with the DOHC engine...it has better suspension..etc....bottom line, the SIR is a much better car

there's a bunch of other differences as well, interior, engine, suspension, exhaust, ABS, A/C it's a different car all together,

and SIR's are only 99-00 not 96-00

it would NOT be worth it, for the theft factor alone. odds are n1_taboo would prolly steal it and sell it for parts hahaha

anyways, if you just want a nice lil daily driver, get something other than a Civic, cuz your insurance rates will be lower, and ppl won't hate on you as much.... and ricers won't try to race you everywhere you go.

Yeah, I see you and say "look at the little Asian kid driving that riced out Civic!"

The differences between an Si and an SiR aren't worth the cost of owning own if you want my opinion.

The SiR is about $5000 more then an Si for a decent used one, but it only buys you a few minor differences in the suspension and a slightly more powerful motor. 160hp vs 127hp, but the torque is almost the same and an SiR weights 100lbs more. The interior and exterior are almost identical aside from some minor detaials. Insurance, gas and maintenance are more $$$ too. And it's alot more likely to get stolen.

If you're into the truck scene and you need a decent daily driver, I'd recommend an 99-00 EL instead. Same powertrain as the Si, but it's alot nicer then both inside and it's more practical.

What does a 100lbs difference for the street makes? nothing

Gas yeah 91+ which equals out to another per $3 - $4 per tank over the regular price.

Insurance? I dunno.. 28 and no claims/tickets $107/m with everything

Stolen, umm Yeah I guess. When I visit my wife in Markham it usual gets parked in the garage overnight. Then again there is a white tegs type r and a sk2 down the street that stays out overnight.

Get an Si, less headaches, you won't have that sir for a week if you leave it anywhere.
That sir is a bit pricey, for 15 grand you can get a Type R.

If you have 15 grand to play around, you have a lot of choices. The ones you listed are all decent cars. Now my words aren't golden, but if I were you, I woud consider these cars as they are one step above the SiR as far as "class" is concerned.

TL sounds nice.

The amount of money you save on gas cannot even make up the money you save on insurance. I think you will have a higher insurance rate with a SiR than that of a TL, or a 10 year old LS400.

Call up insurance and get a quote on all these cars. Get the spec on tank size and average MPG rating and that will be a good place to start comparison.

At least that's what I believe in.

As far as offering goes, I can't tell you what I think because if I have 15000 dollars of budget, SiR won't be on my top choice of used car.

Good luck
