Not worth swapping a older engine into new car. Too many complications w/ wiring from ODB2 to ODB0. Besides, why would you want a older engine in your car? Might as well stick w/ stock if you ask me. 2500 for swap is real cheap, I've been quoted mostly 4G's by reputible shops.

Nothing is wrong with an older engine .. Here are some reasons why you'd consider and older engine...

1. If your Engine has hundreds of thousands of KM
2. Its burning oil like crazy
3. You want More Power
4. Even though the engine is older, if you get one that has low KM your still better off then a junky stock motor

Also forgot to mention$2500 for a b16A2 or SIRII if its JDM is probably way to cheap. Like others said.. expect a cheap tranny, First gen B16A, and a cheapo install... I.E No Vtec, and messy install with wires everywhere

its only illegal in cali....to do that, its all legal here, a first gen b16a can work OBD1 no problem, and its legal..
I agree with N1 Taboo, never heard of that law in Canada

No.. Its nothing at all.

If you pick up a obd0 motor and want to wire it into a obd car the only thing you need to do is conversion harness and a small bit of easy wiring and a new ECU (will come with the engine)

If its a obd2 to obd1. Its just plug and play conversion harness with a new Ecu.

Converting back is real easy.. Just the distributor and you need to swap your 02 sensor(s) and add a resistor pack. (if running obd0 91 or older)

I run a obd2 motor in a obd0 car.. and it was real easy. Its the same thing both ways . Lots of people do it.

Just run the motor obd1 its the easiest way.. Dont worry about what the car is, its simple to convert.

Drop in a b16a2.. stay away from the 1st gen b16's they have cable trannys and your hydraulic so it will take a bit of converting

Yup, B16A's are in the 2k - 2400 range. So at 500-600 for install 2500-3k is the range for installed.

And to add to the "is it illegal" - no it is not illegal in ontario to swap in an older motor - as long as it meets the emissions requirements.

Sry, was commenting on someone else's question in regards to that. But B16A2 would go in fine for EK for sure.

Well, if switching in a 1st gen b16 into EK is easy than thats fine by me.
